Is it joking about the driving with a helmet idea ? I see a fair few people driving in hiz vis but that's exceptional

  • I've noticed anyone driving in Hi-Viz is generally a bad driver. Usually in a hurry to get somewhere - (and no i'm not on about emergency services here) - it's just an geniune observation.

  • Is it ironic that I've never noticed anyone driving in hi vis?

"so I can understand the frustration sometimes directed towards cyclists"
"cars won’t be able to pass safely if riders stay two-abreast on narrow county lanes"
"They are absolutely essential for all cycle users"
    What a bellend

  • i for one can't wait to hear what lewis hamilton has to say about driving to the shops.

It's often site workers ect in company cars afaik

  • what a cunt you appear to be.

  • Appear?

  • Are you telling me that narrow lanes maybe only a little over a car wide can safely accommodate a car overtaking riders riding two abreast? Or are you saying that cyclists should do whatever the fuck they want at all times with no thoughts of being considerate towards drivers (who cyclists expect to be considerate towards them)?

He is a bellend for not making it more clear that this is his opinion and not a fact, and he is a bellend for not advocating freedom of choice at the same time as advocating helmet use (if he wishes to advocate helmet use at all)

Maybe I went a little far but just before that he states that cyclists do it to ensure people don't overtake when it isn't safe and then goes on to slate his own view by saying that they shouldn't do it on narrow country lanes where presumably it's narrow enough that they shouldn't be overtaking ( note I don't actually ride in the countryside often but it seems that this is what he is getting at)
I understand he should of made it clear that was his view on helmets but with many of the arguments against wearing a helmet and the fact that he might be slightly biased since he has haemophilia he shouldn't jump the gun and make rash statements like that , we slate drivers who do it ( kate hoey , eric pickles ect) and the same should go for cyclists if they want to have opinions and spew them as facts

  • ... they shouldn't do it on narrow country lanes where presumably it's narrow enough that they shouldn't be overtaking ...

I assumed that by "narrow" he means too narrow to safely overtake cyclists riding two abreast but wide enough to safely overtake single file cyclists. That's the only way I can interpret that comment to make sense.

He probably said more than what was quoted in that article though, so that may not have been what he was actually getting at.

  • hmmm, quite. pro-tip, chuckles: calling people 'autistic' by way of insulting them, especially when you use it in an attempt to highlight their lack of 'empathy', is liable to result in you being thought of as a bit of a thick, boorish turd.

    hop along now.

  • Jeez in bollocks logic shocker.

  • fuck me, it's our own richard littlejohn. good to know.

  • I do realise the vast benefits of the PC world that we live in and should perhaps not have posted what I did due to the ease at which it could be misunderstood, either by a PC-nazi nutjob, or someone with a genuine passion for a better world who could not get inside me head to clearly understand my thoughts. I apologize for any offence caused, it was unintentional.

It's just common sense that you don't ask people if their autistic much in the same way that you don't call someone bipolar if their having a bad day

  • It's common sense that getting your LBS to change a bottom bracket might cost £25 or more.

  • You really do have no idea about me whatsoever.

don't worry sunshine, i fully intend to keep it that way.

  • Yes, in order of disability.

  • It's common sense that bike helmets reduce the likelihood of a head injury when involved in a bike accident

actually it's not common sense at all

  • Your anti-environmental user name is pretty despicable as it goes.

  • you're on fire today.

  • Excellent trolling Jeez, we needed something to fill in the gap that Lynchman have left.

  • There is no 100% common sense.

  • And where's my list?

There you go again, further alienating Apple users. Soon there will be none left.
