Can we have a poll asking if people should get on a bike (cycle training) before applying for a driving license ?
Make more sense and safer roads than the helmet thing

• #4407
Reinforces the "graduate from bike to car" thing though surely?
As in, I'm a grown up now, I put behind me the childish bicycle.
Not that I disagree with you at all about training motorists in "proper" cycling, but maybe it should be part of the driving test rather than a precurser?

cycle training to L3 before starting driving lessons? I can see some equality issues but in general a sound concept.

Good point Dammit
Just getting sick of the constant cyclists blaming/bashing that is THE HELMET DEBATE rather than a focus on what drivers do -

Since moving home last week (temp) my parents are giving it the whole 'your so selfish not wearing a helmet'
le sigh

Punch them in the cock, after writing appropriate will of course.

Put your helmet on then break your own legs on a postbox, then shout at them about how useless their fucking helmet was and how you wouldn't have been anywhere near a postbox if you weren't wearing it. Then shit in their marital bed and smear "you don't understand me" on the wall.

That last bit cracked me up.

This makes me think of the current run of arsebook post about motorbikers and wearing leathers, as that makes you safer.

Have you read the foffa thread?

Helmets would probably reduce head injuries in car accidents. There are more car accidents than bike accidents. So, we should ban cars.

Don't peds have more head injuries per mile travelled than cyclists?
= Ban walking.

Not driving in to things is 100% more likely to reduce head injuries.

Just wrap everyone in bubblewrap

I nearly got sideswiped by a legally blind driver. The driver behind me saw what happened and asked "Was I OK". I said, yes as I anticipated him doing that. (not slowing down in time etc..)
She then went on to give me the helmet lecture. The one about how maybe it's safer to wear one etc.
^^ :)

No, peds should just wear helmets and be forced to opt-in to 'adult content'. That will save them.

Yeah as YOUR hairmit would helped the BLIND driver see you.
To me, that is up there with if you stay in bed no car driver will get you.

Just wrap everyone in bubblewrap
That would just cause mass accidents as everyone would be bubble popping instead of looking where they are going.
Bad survey no?
3rd option - no, see high cycling modal share nations
4th option - yes, other road users are unsafe
5th option - yes, the economy needs manufacturers to sell more stuff
