catlike whistper = shit
mine broke after wearing it no more than 10 times. A guy at the track had the same problems some days before. THe plastic that holds the straps at the backis too weak and snaps and the padding comes all offInteresting to know this. You are not the first to complain about them. I need to buy a helmet next week for the track as the one I procured from HH is a bit pleby. Have you got yourself a new one yet?
I quite like the look of the Rudy Project ones, but nowhere seems to have the size and colour combo I require

so VBs away on holiday and we have to start a helmet debate?!
Can we start on the Red Light Jumpers too????
What about RDJ and NON helmet wearers - WOW, thats just suicide!
anyone ever ridden a motorcycle without a helmet??
its obvious to us now that this is plain crazy - but I can vouch that its also extremely exciting. So take your pick. I wear my helmets on all my rides baring the pootling to the shops. I feel naked when I dont have one on.
I dont force my 2 teenage kids to wear them. Each to their own. Its not a law.
LIKE THE RED LIGHTS........ -

Just a pair of shades and the wind in your hair.

I did think about what would have happened should I have been wearing a full face helmet- however the chap I spoke to whilst I was going in and out of the MRI scanner said that if my jaw had not broken thus absorbing the force it was a distinct possibility that I would have fractured my cervical vertebrae, or the back of my skull where the tendons attach.
Christ! thats scary Dammit. in one way you are one lucky soup loving mo fo

Helmet choice is dependent on brand/model/head shape. It's like buying shoes. My head currently fits the Specialized mould best, but my feet certainly don't.

Why would you wear a helmet on your feet??

.
I think it's preposterous that people are saying wearing them is a BAD idea. I just don't get it. How can protecting your head be a BAD idea? There was a remark a while ago about rotational injuries which may be worsened/caused by helmets.
Even disregarding this, the burden of proof is surely on the helmet companies to show why they are needed and effectve rather than on people to say why they don't wear them. And, so far, I have not seen anything to convince me of this.
Compare: take this pill to prevent head injuries. The risk of head injury is vanishingly small, and there is no evidence to show that the pill is actually effective, but why would taking the pill be a bad idea?

In the top ten things that will make you safer on a bike, hemet use is likely to come in at number 10, You'd be best placed implementing numbers 1-9 first, however if you want to top them off by wearing a helmet "just in case" then good.
However, setting off on your bike believing your helmet makes you safer is a very dangerous mindset to be in.
just my thoughts.

Why would you wear a helmet on your feet??
Because it would be selfish not to.
What if you were riding your bike and a dog chased you and bit your foot off like in American flyers...your relatives might have to push you around in a wheelchair for the rest of your life you selfish, selfish man! -

Friend of the Mrs started cycling the other day- her boyfriend had bought her a helmet, multi-tool, pump and puncture repair kit as a gift for starting.
Her indoors bought the new cyclist a pair of gloves saying "the people on Neil's forum don't often wear helmets but they all wear gloves", which is common sense as you are very likely to trash your hands in most spills without them.

http://www.cyclehelmets.org/ is a part of the conspiracy to reduce the global population by increasing the number of cycle related head injuries. When will you all wake up and realise this!!!!!!!!

There is another argument (which I don't subscribe to because I look like a weirdo anyway) which goes like this:
More people looking normal and less like weirdy cyclists (i.e. lycra clad and helmeted/high-viz jacket and helmeted - because most people who wear helmets are either wearing lycra or high-viz) = more non-cyclists start cycling because they think 'hey I don't have to look like a weirdo cyclist' = more cyclists on the roads = drivers more used to cyclists + less drivers = safer roads for all. Hurrah!

Not alot, very difficult to do anything whilst nailed to a tree.
Goes of to start a thread about cycling in a Crown of thorns.

Well if he'd been wearing a helmet he would have been impervious to said crown's thorns. He was a selfish, selfish man!

To all females:
It is very naive and dangerous to assume that drivers will give you more space, just because you are female.
No it's not, it's something I notice actually, vehicles somehow pass you a little closer than they should if you're wearing a helmet, the whole notion of "oh they're wearing a helmets, they'll be fine" and overtake them leaving less space to spare, not on purpose of course as drivers tend not to know how scary it is when a motorised vehicle pass you very closely even at 20mph.
Now I seen this pattern, people who's full on noddering it, somehow drivers didn't really take much caution around them, whether those who didn't wear a helmet, they do take a little caution around them, and women who let their hair down, they take even more caution overtaking them (probably because of the silly notion that female can't ride a bike as well as men or simply because they're female)
I also notice the worse cyclists, weaving left and right with phone on their hand, it force drivers to the point of having to go on the other lane just to overtake the bad cyclist.
however having said that, it doesn't mean they'll always give you a bit more space, but they appear to be more frequents in doing that if you're not wearing a helmet/are a women.
tricity's right, there is a study related to this matter, I've just found it;

It depends if your partner cuts your toe nails or not.

Che wears protective goggles whilst cutting my nails.
She also fans me whilst feeding me grapes.
I agree with CrittRawk- how can protecting your head be a bad thing?
The additional 199 grams is hardly going to add much time to your journey to work after all.
