  • I prefer castroil for my cars
    :)

  • i prefer sugar in the petrol tank

+1 to all wiggy says, dunk.

  • she can defend herself

  • Thanks Will/31. Baffles me too.

Dale, yes she can, but I am not going to stand by and do nothing.

  • you should, coz you're just digging a hole

  • Tags like 'Thank fuck she's gone' are EXACTLY what I'm talking about! Come on! STAND UP! Grow some balls! Who the fuck wrote that?

  • So tags like the veevee ones are fine? Double standards methinks.

  • Reading the lovely tags about me make me think I must be in the accusation box. I don't tag and I don't send anonymous messages (except to Dogs). And I honestly think this is totally overblown and attention seeking and as I said on Friday night it is really sad that the attention is focussed on this issue.

Anonymous messages should be reported to VB if they came on the forum or indeed the police, if not they should be ignored. To wish anyone who sent anonymous messages to "fuck off and die" is completely wrong.

Life is too short and if you attach so much importance to the fact that someone does not like your posts then it is time to learn that the world does not revolve around you. There are worse things in life.

  • Not at all. They are all vile! What the fuck is up with this place?

  • Well I think Donut is just defending his girlfriend; I'm sure he wouldn't defend the vile shit written about Vee Vee.
Can I suggest that this appalling thread closes down and that car fans use the other thread - for talk about cars and not for this depressing and spiteful bickering?

  • To create a blank MySpace page, send an incredibly nasty message thru it, and then delete the page . . . yes those people can fuck off and die.

And I would like this matter to be laid to rest. The people responsible will get whats coming to them.

    .

Obviously I don't mean that literally. And look what this thread has done; friends arguing with each other.
So, I'm out of this thread. I think you're all terrific people but this is just horrible. See you in the naked sailors' forum. :)

  • Sigh LFGSS at its worst.

Dunc, sorry its come to this... :(

But Donut, how do you know it was someone from this forum??? Maybe it was someone from MySpace? What did it say?

  • Quite apart from the personal issues, let's not forget that a lot of this is about real world vs. virtual world. A lot of people (and I haven't the faintest idea who they are, but the off-forum shenanigans must come from somewhere) seem to want a place like this to be 100% car-free. I suppose if this was specified somewhere (e.g. the 'Car-free London Fixed Gear Single-Speed Forum') then that might work, but the fact is that despite our love for bikes there is still an enormous amount of car use out there, many forum members have cars, willingly or not, and cars are clearly useful for a lot of purposes.

Now, don't get me wrong (and I know I've said most of this before), I've lived car-free all my life and I really don't like cars very much, but knowing a fair bit about how transportation works I can confidently affirm that change for the better concerning car over-use that is sustainable can only be slow and gradual--and boring and sensible. Reducing car use, I'm sure, is an objective that many or perhaps most, if not all, on here would agree with. The best thing we can do is be realistic about it.

Having tantrums about the presence of two threads about cars on here is just immoderate and counter-productive. What's the big deal? It is only if you learn to live with the current situation, but without accepting the status quo, and understand the reasons why people like and use them in preference to pedal cycles that you become capable of doing something positive about it beyond riding a bike yourself and perhaps influencing your family and friends.

Being 'anti-car' is a bit stupid and much too undifferentiated as an attitude. I don't personally like motorsport much, either, but I still prefer it if someone is into motorsport and rides a bike most of the time than if someone isn't much into motorsport but drives a car everywhere every day. And much of the car threads has just been dreaming about high-performance cars that few on here could ever afford--it's harmless fantasy, really. Many of the same people are also dreaming about high-performance pedal cycles and are actually getting them because they can afford them.

I know perfectly well that it can be an emotive issue, but if you want to do something about it, don't abuse people on an Internet forum but join a campaigning organisation like the LCC or the CTC and make a positive difference. You'll develop new skills, make new friends, understand how society works better, and do some good at the same time as reaping these personal benefits. Anger may be an energy, but it needs direction, and aiming it at other people is usually pretty directionless.

  • It's like Lord of The Flies - these tags could blow the whole thing apart!!!
    Wheres Hippy (piggy)...?

  • he he

    nice reference scott

  • i'll be there

  • WTF is all this shit about?!?!?!?!
you guys need to chill the fuck out.

    Shameless plug =P

Honestly though, it's sad that it's come to this, it's even worse that I as well as a lot of you know that this sort of thing would not happen if we were face to face, so why let it happen here?

Also about that tags, yes usually they're insulting in the funny/friendly/acceptable sort of way, but some of the ones on this thread are just a little harsh, like others have said, if you've got something to say, say it, you shouldn't be hiding because you're embarrased with what you've said.

The messages had a direct refference to this forum!

This is the end now please. enough damage has been done, and as Scott has pointed out our attention should be focussed on the memorial ride.
    Thanks.

Not having a go or trying to drag shit up but VeeVee's original post in here (that apparently led to offensive tags about her) was about how we should have our attention focused on the memorial ride..

    Group hug?

  • how can we have a 'group hug' when bez deleted her account?
