Farrar abandons, the TOB peloton rejoices!
*@**saftycyclist ***Wonder what happened in that final km while we were watching Cav call Tyler Farrar a c**t, twice. At least they didn't have a mic there.
Jeremy Hunt LOL'ing when asked if Farrar was involved in the crash was priceless. " I couldn't comment"

^^ This is Biggins trolling the redtops for column inches I reckon.
It's nice (and a little surprising) to see big names like Basso and Sanchez in the lineup.

Greetings folks,
Is anyone planning to ride out to watch the final stage of the Tour of Britain next Sunday between Reigate and Guildford?
Should we sort a forum ride to go out there and celebrate a great summer of cycling?
If so, where would be a good place to go and watch?
There is a Rapha ride http://www.rapha.cc/london-1-2#ldn6 to Guildford which leaves their cafe at 10 am and then picks up at Richmond Park at 11 am, but surely we can do better and look better than that...Peace and Love,
Tim -

Didn't see the stage: what happened?

Tyler might** have taken out Cav's wheel who went down and a right royal pile up ensued with all Garmins riders halted and Tyler concussed.
Cav then rode slowly next to him all the way to the finish calling him a c*nt.

I'm thinking of heading out to view one of the stages, Caerphilly seems like a good option, it's 2 hours away (by car) but the riders will come through 3 times in quick succession and the climb sounds interesting, but it's on a Friday which is more difficult (but not impossible) with work.
The other option would be Guildford, but the riders only pass through twice and there is a couple of hours in-between and it's still just over an hour and a half away.
I've never been to watch a race in person but think it would be fun and I would like to show support for the general mood for cycling in the UK this summer - does anyone have any advice such as how long in advance to be there, or would I just be better off showing my support by turning on the TV in the evening?

I'm going to the Stoke stage and thinking about the Caerphilly. For the Stoke stage thinkingof getting there for the start, then heading out to a midway point (maybe) and then back to Stoke for the finish.
For the Caerphilly thinking of parking up 30-40 miles away and riding into the city fixed. Any tips gratefully received

Thinking about the Stoke stage too. Went in 2010 with the intention of heading to a midway point.
There's a lot of good beer in Stoke!

Rastafari Greetings to each and every one,
Well I am not sure I am going to organise a ride as such as I am not 100% sure I will do this as I might be having some building work done on Sunday.
But if any one wanted to ride out to watch stage 8 from Reigate to Guildford, here is the route I would take
Clapham
Tooting
Mitcham
Join A237 to Carshalton
Hackbridge
Wallington
Purley
at outskirts of Coulsden, turn right on to B2032
Woodmansterne
Chipstead
Kingswood
Walton on the Hill
When B2032 meets A25 at Betchworth, turn right on to A25
Brockham
Dorking - thought about picking up supplies from here but race passes on this road at 12.33, so need be out of Dorking well before that (maybe and hour?)
Westcott
Wotton
Abinger Hammer - where the race passes through (twice)The race passes through Shere (next village from Abinger Hammer) at 12.48pm , then back through again at around 13.45 pm
Er then ride home after that.
It is riding on and around the North Downs, so there will be a few hills...
Weather on Sunday looks alright, you would be heading out to countryside, so it would be nice healthy vibes anyway, so if I was going to do it, I would be leaving at around 9.30ish and just having a gentle pootle out for the day.
If this route doesn't appeal , Rapha are doing a ride leaving their cafe at 10 am and they would get you to Guildford in their own inimitable way.
Peace and Love to you all,
Tim

great finish from cav, pity phil ligget has no fucking idea whats going on, whish he'd shut up sometimes
-
• #316
I'd go further. I wish he'd shut up and piss off. Wiggins bullying the lead out was mighty!
*artists who should be working but have skived for an hour to watch the tour unite!
-
• #317
That wasn't Phil Liggett commentating, much like that wasn't Barbados hosting.
-
• #318
Which stuttering brummer was it then? I seem to be about as aware of who I was listening to as he was of who we were watching!

Hugh Porter is commentating for ITV, with analysis supplied by Rob Hayles.

Potholes, puddles, cattle grids and hedges. Lots of hedges.

Tiernon-Locke getting practise in the Sky train for next season...

• #323
Fucking commentary is shite and the coverage in general
It seems like an amatuer race without Sherwin and Liggett -
• #324
It's a shitty little race. If it was anywhere else we'd all be bitching about how shit it was, how dangerous the roads are, how crap the tv coverage is and so on.
-
• #325
Bit harsh no? If youre in it might be more varied than just shitty.
Having said that the look of Shap today wasn't inspiring my bike legs.
Glad to see blackpool town of my youth has precisely NO cyclelanes on that seafront road, they all below prom.
Gutted I can't be at sat, that's one hilly day to come will be great watching.
Fucking ITV4 highlights.. 20 minutes of bullshit chat before any racing whatsoever..
