Typical !
1996 ? So it is just a fad for you ?
I have been wearing clothes since the 1970's, it is people like you who are ruining this scene with your fashion lead fads.
Do you ride hoodless on the streets or just in department stores, it is idiots who feel the need to ride hoodless on the street that makes me sick.

@leeww
Why don't u ram it home a bit harder? I was just saying what I felt after having worked in the shop and dealt with people in there..... that's all. No need to take it so personally. I did apologise for my comments above, didn't mean to offend anyone.

Nicholas .....whoa. You are hardcore, dude.
Shame on you, thinking you can just post a response like that.
You can't just post a response, you need first to find (not buy) words to make a sentence, swap them around for better words, perhaps learn how to form a paragraph, perhaps learn how to wield your own new words together from old letters, you need a complete and encyclopedic knowledge of typing, which are the best and most applicable typefaces and you will also need to be schooled in the physics of posting on a forum.
You people just think you can go about posting replies to other peoples post, you make me sick.

ah he kicked your ass there leeww! (Nicholas that is..)
I am and was part of many underground "trends", "fads", "groups", "cultures", whatever you want to call it so the fixed wheel elitism is nothing new.. It's a part of any sub-culture.. Straight Edge, Veganism, BMX, punk rock and hardcore.. We all love it, we all talk about it non-stop to our friends trying to make them understand why it is we love it so much, trying to get them to try it!
But then everyone else DOES understand why we love it, and they love it too, and now we have nothing to explain or talk about, they all know what you mean, they all do it as well, you're not cool anymore and you hate the trendies sooo much!
Sorry Jon, but I think an attitude like that in a shop like Brick Lane Bikes is very bad for business.. If everyone who spent money at the shop were barely surviving hardcore cyclists that just wanted to replace a broken headset on their beater, you'd be fucked! Especially considering how low maintenance fixies are :D

Don't worry, there are many people on this forum and we shouldn't expect ( or wish for) everyone to share the same view.
My view is pretty much the polar opposite to yours, but it takes all sorts to make this whole thing work.
No offense taken, nor intended.

"I used to work in the record store.
I had everything before anyone.
I was there in the Paradise Garage DJ booth with Larry Levan.
I was there in Jamaica during the great sound clashes.
I woke up naked on the beach in Ibiza in 1988.'m losing my edge to better-looking people with better ideas and more talent.
And they're actually really, really nice.I'm losing my edge."

LCD SS are so last year, you want to get yourself a track bike. But for god's sake don't come into my shop to buy it, if you do come in don't buy the expensive stuff, that is only for the people who can't afford it.

andrewleitch86 But they bring a lot of money into it which is a good thing. Can only mean more parts in stock and more shops. This is what happens with things that all of a sudden become trendy
that's only bad for me because ebay is now ridiculously expensive ffs!!!!!!!!!!!

this thread be illin.
Shame on you.
You can't just love your bike, you need first to find (not buy) parts to make an old beater, swap them around for better parts, perhaps learn how to build a frame, learn about ratios, bottom bracket sizing and fitting, you need a complete and encyclopedic knowledge of wheel building, what are the best and most applicable tyres and tubes and you will also need to be schooled in the physics of cycling and skidding.
Only then can you love your bike.
Ah.... I'll.. er.. I'll get me coat.
Shame on you, you city/suit/fakenger/designer/fishmonger type who just thinks he can buy and use a coat like that.
You can't just buy a coat, you need first to find (not buy) parts to make a basic coat, swap them around for better parts, perhaps learn how to line a coat, learn about sleeves, sizing and pockets, you need a complete and encyclopedic knowledge of stitching, which are the best and most applicable lapels and buttons and you will also need to be schooled in the physics of coat wearing.
You people just think you can go about seeing coats you like and wearing them, you make me sick.
