elvis - what start time do you have on sunday? and what ratio you using?
not sure i will ride all of it feel a few hills may get the better of me!!
where we meeting on wed then?
-
• #478
I'm meant to be riding it with my dad and so I won't beleive it until we're actually on the bikes in the morning! If we did, we'd probably meet up with the ride around woodmansterne near Banstead/Chipstead about 7?
I'll be riding 42-16 (69%) which seems right for most hills.
On the where question, might be too early for a pub so possibly a cafe?

Hey Lewis, I came in the shop on Friday and bought a new cog so I have half a chance of getting up Southover st. Anyway a chap had a quick go at getting my current cog off and had no luck, can you let me know when the shops a bit quieter so someone could have another go at shifting it.
Or if anyone else out there thinks they could help me get this darn cog off... -

Rich, try this in technique but in reverse: http://204.73.203.34/fisso/eng/schpignone.htm
Or take off the lock ring and skid the hell out of it until it loosens

i'm up for a wednesday ride, would be best to meet at the track - get to see a race or two before we set out.
btw - i can highly recommend Baker St Bikes, always helpful, friendly and excellent wheel builders!! been going there for years and don't have a bad word to say about them. support local, independent businesses!!!

Welcome on here, George!

Just spotted a helmet-less rider heading into town along lewes rd riding a cougar track - black with red writing... local?
also spotted a rider heading towards lewes rd this morning on a white (?) conversion with blue bar tape.
two new people in one day!
welcome George, maybe see you down the track next week?

how was the ride yester? my work do was completely underwhelming
-
• #497
lazy, so therefore good.
wore myself out with some stunning tea and cake action at the track, though.

Hi Andy that was me - we passed in the Lewes Road traffic a few weeks back - the Cougar is my other black bike. The one you saw me on the other day has just died, or gone into a bicycle coma from which it will not recover until I'm rich enough to repair it.
-
• #499
ah. i thought i may have been you but didn't recognize the bike. looked nice though!

Cheers - it is a nice old frame - the main triangle and forks are 653, which although nice and light does sometimes cause me worries when cycling down the XC track that is the Lewes Road, especially as my other one has just cracked.
hill climb training, sort of ;)
it fucking hurt with the heat and riser bars. but all part of my new HTFU policy.
i wanted to ride all the way down on sunday (not just from Haywards Heath), but a long days graft on saturday put paid to that idea!
