I believe UK has a bit of problem with illegal handguns, nowadays?
I know people who have illegal pistols, but have never been offered one.

Posessing an illegal firearm indicates a willingness to use it (discounting small cocked posturing). Does that not make these people potential killers?
Well, I carry a knife. Never felt the need to kill anyone with it.
And the guys I know? Sure, they could use them to kill people, but as they got the guns from their gramps who got them from the war (as I believe is the case), they aren't exactly the ones that have went out and got them from sources unknown and best left that way. Those people I do not know, nor do I want to.

I don't really think having an antique rifle can place you in the same category as a thug with a Glock, it's not like you're gonna hold up a post office with an antique rifle...

I've carried a knife for almost twenty years.
Got myself a new one as a Christmas present two years ago as the last one (I've had three or four) had its blade in too bad a shape.
I use knives as tools. The one I now carry is stained with glue from opening boxes with tape. And once I had to use one to open a box with a PS3 controller inside! Oh, the horror! Was in a situation in which a person asked if anyone had something to open the box with. And when I used my knife I got some pretty bad press. It seems a knife is not a tool, but an instrument of inherent evil. I find it odd. And sad.

I find it worrying that someone feels the need to carry a knife unless you live in Alaska, Canada or Siberia.
Where do you live? -

And again. We haven't, I think, the same level of knife-related violence on our streets as I've read from the papers The Perfidious Albion has.

Alby Mangles > Malcolm Douglas > Bush Tucker Man > The Leyland Brothers > Ray Mears > Bear Grylls

Where do you live?I'm a Finn, living in Helsinki. So I guess that's a good excuse.

I was punched in the face by a 5 foot blonde Finnish chick in a hotel stairwell in Estonia. Split my eyebrow wide open...
I rest my case.

What did you do to her?

It's a long story, but I still consider the ferocity of her reaction to be slightly unjustified.
Luckily she wasnt carrying a gun or she would have fucken blown me away

call that a knife?
I've never quite understood this.
But, before I am accused of being a fascist and a warmonger: I've worked for a guns magazine, wrote a column. My views caused a lot of distress amongst the Finnish gun nuts and rednecks. In hindsight it might not have been that good an idea to have a column with my name and face criticizing the -- at least in my view -- slack gun control laws that allowed civilians to own full-auto equipment. Never before have I received death threats! And we had to do some damage control as some advertisers were pulling their ads from our mag because of what I wrote. The prime of my life, that was.
(And I got to shoot oh so many a gun. SMGs, lots of different pistols and others. No heavy stuff, mind, which was a bit of a drag.)
