Fully agree, I turned 40 a couple of months ago and the last thing I wanted to do was have a birthday party.

I went to a 40th the other weekend, was a 3 day mini festival/rave with about 40 people plus kids and dogs, there were games, a play (I was a nun with an awful Irish accent for my scene) of the guys life and much fun. We all had a great time, everyone wanted to be there but I really wouldn't want to be on the receiving end of that though.

related to birthdays, I hate when your birthday is over and you realise someone close to you forgot. Not because I give a shit (I always forget too), but because the following days I probably have to deal with them being way too apologetic for forgetting to congratulate me on the day.
