I didn't recall the previous wording but apparently rule 170 previously just said that drivers should watch out for pedestrians crossing when turning in or out of a junction. So the difference is that it wasn't implied that they should stop to give way and now it is.

Nope. It's always been the case, I think, that motorists, etc, should look out for and give way to peds at a junction.
It's possible that this bit: '... and to remain behind cyclists and motorcyclists at junctions even if they are waiting to turn and are positioned close to the kerb,' is new. And welcome.

I stopped in the mini bus today to let somebody cross as I came off a roundabout and was nearly taken out by a big fuck off lorry trying to power over the roundabout. At the next lights they pulled next to me and called me a cunt and that I’ll kill somebody doing that etc etc. I had a bus full of kids at the time, so that was nice. Twat.

Hate is too strong, more like really bummed out, but also kinda hate that the age of big theatrical movie releases is pretty much over. Leaving aside the queues, it was pretty great to look forward to a big release, then join a bunch of excited friends and strangers to ride those emotional rollercoasters together while gorging on junk food.

Movies nowadays have to compete with streaming and on-demand tv, along with myriad other mindless entertainments. They’re just not as big a deal anymore.

Strap length and torsional rigidity.

I genuinely do not understand the strap length. Either long or short. Why choose a new inbetween length?

I always used to tie knots in them to shorten the strap. Now I just use an existing plastic bag or one of those mini fold up plastic bags.
