Hi, trying being deaf and the jobs you are currently trying to apply for, most of them are based on phones. Im trying to apply for anything right now.

@ Ldn grrl - do companies in this country get gov't support for hiring someone with impairment? if so I would be putting that in my covering letter - anything that might give you an edge. ;)

I hate being offered overtime an 1.5 rate. I'm really going to need the money in a couple of months when i go back to uni to do my MA so i've got to do it really. but i hate 11hour days 6 days a week stuck in an office doing soul destroying mind numbing work.

When I worked for the cunting RBS, they took forever getting my disability equipment, even delayed my starting date, and when i started, the relevant equipment wasnt even set up! (eg: fire alarm pager)

I would look into it and get all the facts straight then argue that you were the more financially lucrative employee becasue a) the incentive b) tax breaks c) you'd be more likely to stay than a hearing employee due to appreciating being a supportive and fair envirionment and thus one that investing in they would have a higher chance of benefiting from that investment. And that with the subsidised equipement your productivity would easily be equal to any other candidate.

All you need is for one HR person to realise that it makes them look hella smart on all of these levels and BANG you are the candidate of choice.
(at least that is what I would do!)
