The peach pizza was known as the Sophia Loren at the place we finished our group rides when I lived in Stirling. We stuck to tea and cakes, so don’t know if they deep fried it.

I think it would be quite nice deep fried!

Where do you stand on crocs and socks? Asking for a friend...

I don't stand on them and wouldn't stand in them.

With you on the slides, at least with flip flop socks it shows you planned the look.

They are trying to push socks in sandals as a hip look on some women's fashion blogs.
It's a no from me. Sure it's comfy but so are properly fitted sandals with straps...or these things called "shoes" ;)
On footwear, leather shoes and no socks are also a big nope from me.
Can live with Birkenstocks being made hip, but keep the socks please.

Any thing to keep me having to see someones feet is fine with me.
Socks for all. -

I can't find my original post, but yeah, Birk's have always been sock-optional.

I hate not noticing my little Lezyne pump has nearly unscrewed itself, then it losing the cylinder mid pump, taking a big old chunk of finger with it. Ouchy

This is the oldest surviing pair of socks in the world (or maybe Dr Zoidberg's slippers). They were made about 400 AD. Note that they were specifically designed to be worn under sandals. The ancient romans and the ancient Greeks wore socks with their sandals. I'm curious to know when it started to be considered a fashion crime. From what I have read, socks and sandals seems to have largely been the norm until the 1960s or so.
I reckon its like one of these rules such as spending several months salary on an engagement ring (invented by De Beers). Somebody influential said that sandals and socks are unfashionable once and the whole world has taken it to heart. Does it really look that bad? Looks comfortable to me!

tx! :)
I just can't for some reason. Like Uggs, & dungarees...can't beat the comfort but donotwant.
The images remind me of the many mountain hikes in Austria we did during summer.
Including the lederhosen on one image 😁

The Japanese have socks like that for their slippers.
You could be right the backlash is manufactured by some fashion body, I'm not sure.
Well they are now worn by "influencers" so we may see them back soon.

Who'd have thought this would be a complex cultural issue? Tiptoeing into a rabbit hole on this.

Just reading about how in Russia, India and various other countries it is considered poor taste to show your feet so it is considered polite to wear socks and sandals. Other countries, like the Czech Republic and Germany it seems to be a generational rebellion thing. I.e its what the olds do so the young rebelled. I find stuff like this fascinating.

I frequently wear dungarees, knitted woollen socks and Birkenstock’s just for comfort and practicality.

How did the designer look at a foot and create them? Or did Romans have funky shaped toes?
