  • I guess you're right - I think I'm only noticing when several words of dialogue come in early.

Particularly in The Crown (don't judge).

  • Ha I've never watched it but my wife is a full on, off with their head Frenchie and even she watches it so I'll not judge.

  • I really hate Apple for either not bothering or cynically not improving the fucking shit quality of their cables.

  • Portmanteau month words - Blowvember, Parch, Roargust etc

  • Stabuary tho.

  • Hate how the managers at work act whenever I'm off sick. I get a text every day saying 'are you in tomorrow?' If I did shift work or something it would be slightly more understandable but I work in an office. Just let me be ill in peace and I'll make contact to say when I'm coming back; as far as I'm concerned a manager should only be using personal phone numbers in an emergency.

  • The ill coughing cunts in my office.

  • They do kinda need to know when you’re coming back, unless you have been signed off by a Dr.
    It’s a thing.

  • Never had this with any other job though. Other places would want me to keep them updated if I was ill but didn't expect me to call every day; as long as I got them my self-certification paper or a doctor's note if I was staying off for more than a week they would accept that.
Then again my last job used the Bradford Factor and were real dicks about it so I guess I should be thankful I don't have to endure those bloody meetings any more.

  • I had one particularly vicious cunt of a boss who made me go into the office when I was really, really sick, even tho' I was able to work from home causing no work flow or deadline problems for him or anyone else... He looked a right cunt when he had to send me home before lunch, it was embarrassing...

It later emerged he was trying to make my life as difficult as possible so I would fuck off... I was being monstrously overpaid so I put up with it, then he finally had to tell me my services were no longer required... I even had to get my partner, who's a teacher, to take two weeks off before the end of term to satisfy the prick so we could go on holiday when it suited him, he got rid of me before we went away of course... I hope he gets cock cancer, sadistic wanker... #csb

This. Stay at home, disease-spreading vermin!

  • 💯 x this.

One thing I do not miss about office life was people coming in to work snotty and coughing, then expecting to be congratulated for being so heroic.

  • Photo frames.

8"X6" it says... Spend time carefully selecting photos for printing, pick 8"X6" prints, crop them carefully so peoples' heads don't get chopped off...

Measure the actual mounts, and they're 7.5"x5.5".
    Arseholes.

  • Arseholes

If that's what gets cropped out then it's a real shame.

  • the RA fucking C.

Every year around this time they see fit to remove in the region of 180 notes from my account for a service i cancelled five odd years ago. They can't seem to find any record of my ever being a member despite providing all the previous addresses i can muster. according to the internet, they have form for this sort of shitbaggery and it's a kafkaesque nightmare of escalation, hold music and bone headed bureaucracy to get resolved.

    thieving cunts.

  • How are they taking the money? Direct debit? Card payment? You should be able to cancel it with your bank. Fraud, surely?

  • Credit Card. It's being done using a particularly egregious bit of financial arseholery called a "Continuous Payment Authority". I've instructed my bank (repeatedly) to cancel the transaction but they say that the transaction can be renewed by the organisation that you have the CPA with - one way they go about sneaking around the flags is by changing the amount each time they make a debit. which according to my records, is exactly what they've done.

    https://www.fca.org.uk/news/news-stories/continuous-payment-authorities-it-your-right-cancel

Trying to resolve this over the phone is almost impossible as the RAC seem to be of the opinion that they have no record of me and i've not received any renewal notifications via email or post - at least none that i've intercepted. Interesting that they can't seem to search for my records using the debit info they clearly have on hand that they are using to rinse me every year.

their latest advice according to a Retail Disputes department is to, and i quote:

    Further Debits?
If you notice a further debit to your account from the retailer, don't panic, please visit our website and select the 'Chat Now' button.

    https://www.theguardian.com/money/2012/feb/24/continuous-payments-authority-know-your-rights

Same thing for 5 years is ripe for escalation. As the link says, if it was a direct debit then get the bank to refund it first, this is more likely to get it resolved properly rather than temporarily fixed by RAC refunding you for the latest fuckup.

Then hammer frozen sausages into the big shiny windows of RAC's HQ.

[EDIT] Ah, a CPA. Continue hounding the RAC but I'd write to some of the money sections of various papers and see if someone will take it up.

  • That is particularly aunty.

I suppose transferring your balance to another credit card would solve it, although that would obviously cost money in transfer fee etc.
