  • I'm pretty sure I have a small piece of braze in my forks that rattles around and annoys the hell out of me
sand in the frame from a respray is mega annoying. even worse when you've spent 2 hrs shaking the frame and get tiny amounts out, but it never all comes out! :(

  • about the rattling - spray some spray glue into the frame and it will catch and hold the sodder that's in there. That's the advice i was given.
About mercian, I had a problem with my frame when it arrived. I called and they took it back, sorted it and sent it back no charge. They are good people and if there's a problem they'll want to sort it out for you.

  • can Mercian do flat crown forks for there vigorelli?

  • they can... it would mean acquiring a different crown is all..

  • that depth of field's annoying. open the curtains!

  • MY BJ has a rattle in the top tube - I suspect it's a bit of loose brazing material but I only notice it when I tip the bike so don't think it's a big deal. I'd be more worried about the thiness of the paint job.

  • can Mercian do flat crown forks for there vigorelli?

i ordered my vigorelli about 2 weeks ago, and asked whether they could replace the sloping fork crown with a flat one - they said they might be able to, it depends whether they can get hold of one (but in the past they have been able to), i couldnt decide whether i wanted the sloping or flat, they said they'd send me a pic of the flat if they got hold of one...i'll post it on here when/if i get it!

I've suffered a sandy frame flange (around the lug area) too, it's infuriating. Thought about a vacuum cleaner, ended up selling the frame.

But in a fork blade, with no drilling - what am I do to? drill the blade to get the loose braze out? I've even thought about magnetising the fork blade so at least the braze stays static...

  • +1 to something rather like sand in there, my old Mercian has too, which seemed like it had been reprayed once already before I got it.

About the paint: call Jane at the workshop, instead of talking about it on here. Like Jacqui said, you should get great service from them.

  • only got good things to say about Mercian, when they did my respray it was flawless and he customer service was spot on

  • Yeah I would call and offer to e-mail them some photos of what concerns...

  • Flat crown

  • This came with road bike clearances next one won't ...;)

they will have a small hole about a third up on the inside, get covered very easy with resprays though ;)
