yes it does, becuase where you might need to stop i might choose to go around, or SLOW down. Basically I'd trust object to stop his bike, whichever bike, however much he'd imbibed, because he can ride them.

So you have never been caught out?

lots, with brakes, without, walking across the street sober as a judge etc, there is no one time when the addition of an inanimate object, (not you object) could have CERTAINLY changed the outcome, mitigation of course, but it's the absolute certainty that people on this forum speak of, when they have no clue as to another's bike handling.

Hah!

The trouble with your argument is that "might have changed the outcome" could be a lifesaver.
I tend to view brakes a bit like condoms: I'd rather have and not need, then need and not have. Especially as to not have appears, to me, to be more a fashion statement then a safety choice. -

Could be worse... I go with - Dont have, hasn't posed a problem.

Balki, I'm struggling to understand your sentance structure there.
Are you referring to your personal life or your chosen retardation technique?
-

trouble.might.could.
maybe people are doing it for fashion, i have no idea, but i'm not arrogant enough to claim that i can stop quicker than someone because i have a different set up. My polo bike is freewheel front brake, i only have one hand on the bar, so another is useless. I seem to have no problem avoiding 'animate' object as we whip around the court. Its only horatio that you can't avoid and no amount of brakes will help you with that man mountain. -

I dont fucking know, Dangles... It was something about not pulling chicks.
Worked better in my head (much like pulling chicks)

Surely as you had your Ursula Andress/Doctor No/emerging from the water moment on Saturday the "chicks" as you term them must have been baying for you?

The other day i spoke to guy outside the Old Vic, I called out 'hey your back brake's fallen off' from what i thought was a coverted roadie with freewheel and no back brake. He then backpedalled his Coaster brake and I realised what a prick I am.
So yeah, like skoota says, judge not lest ye look like a complete cunt.

Bollocks!
Shoot first, ask questions later.

you can change the person riding the bike.
But whoever they are, the laws don't change. Unless you know of someone who carries their own time/space continium around?

Point and case.
Any setup can be safe in the right hands, with the right experience. The point I made earlier in this thread is that it is not safe/fair/acceptable to advise people that a particular setup is better than another (When comparing fixed brakeless to front brake/freewheel) as it comes down to rider ability.

Agreed, until the "oh shit" moment that even the best and most observant/experienced rider can have. Then you just need the most efficient stoppers.

Does it matter how you ride? If you need to stop in a hurry brakes are your best option.
And we all need to stop in a hurry at some point.
