A while ago someone posted a blog with a comment along the lines of "I like reading this from time to time"
and it was about some really wierd american dude who was cycle touring the globe with a trailer and some funny flags hanging off the back. All hes text was in silly colours and it was hard to read and he had a really rambling style.
Any ideas?

He wrote a blog post starting with something like "There is a girl in this story" and then he rambled for ages before the girl came along.

I think that the write ups of rides are rather nice and they make me want to go and ride my bike.

That's the ticket - great scenery and good riding with friends.
I also like the Yonder Journal stuff - basically the same in a more hipster presentation:

No Scarfolk Council yet?
http://scarfolk.blogspot.co.uk/
"Scarfolk is a town in North West England that did not progress beyond 1979. Instead, the entire decade of the 1970s loops ad infinitum. Here in Scarfolk, pagan rituals blend seamlessly with science; hauntology is a compulsory subject at school, and everyone must be in bed by 8pm because they are perpetually running a slight fever. "Visit Scarfolk today. Our number one priority is keeping rabies at bay." For more information please reread."

Well worth following even if you don't know him.

Any recommendations for interesting blogs and websites about London?
I can only remember this place and spitalfields life so could do with branching out a bit.
