Just out of curiosity I did a bit of a web search myself and a review on bikeradar, which I think is derived from a cycling plus review, gives the weight of the frame as 3.5 lbs, so it probably is accurate. I've got a 2006 frame not the 2007/8 frame which has completely different tubing, but I'd be surprised if it was massively lighter. I do still have the original wheels on it and yeah, they are rubbish, so could be making a hefty contribution to the overall weight.

I said on another thread that the wheels are probably adding weight and are meant to be crap. You win twice by replacing them. If you want to lose weight you could look at the saddle and bottom bracket. By that point there will be hardly any stock parts on it! Another simple way to lose weight is to take off one brake (and lever depending on bars and need for hand positions)

Plus wheels are roating mass which count alot more than staionary mass. Thoes heavey rims and tyres on the out side will cound alot. Rotating inertia whihc is kind of like mass is the sum of the mass times the radius squared so any excess weight on the rim / tyre is equivalent to carrying areound that excess weight times the raidus of your wheel squared.

Yeah, rotational mass is like 4x as bad as static mass or something - that's why you should lighten wheels moreso than frame.. also cranks, pedals and shoes as they rotate as well. But, as you will notice with tour riders, weight isn't eveything. Depend on your speed it's often better to use slightly heavier rims that are more aero than less aero lighter-weight rims.

lpg Can i just speak up in defense of bareknuckles - they aren't more likely to break or anything.
i'm just reckless
I posted that around the time everyone was breaking them, tongue in cheek like.
like the buddha says, I've done plenty of kerbs with mine and some rough old tracks (and my 13 stone atop it) and it still lives.
people keep asking if it's failed catastrophically yet though.
having said that, it was designed as an entry level track frame, first and foremost. not for freeriding.

Reynolds 753 steel frame (52cm): 1,760g, forks: 620g
This is from my 20 year old frame, yeah I know 753's not available anymore but I think it's useful to include it as a comparison. -

Need to sort out if forks are included or not in the weights, otherwise the weight could be wrong by 500-800g.

I know, but I can only list what I can find. So, the more people measure, the better the list becomes :)

Hippy, not sure about your On-One Ti Geared Inbred being 1365g, where did you get the weight from? - A 16" on the scale comes out at 1660g

"Frame weight is around 3.01 to 3.5lb. Depends on the size."
http://www.on-one.co.uk/oldsite/products/tigearedinbred.shtmlDid I fsck up the conversion or did they mess the figures??
That's without a fork.. did you weigh frame-only? I'd prefer real weights over claimed anyway..

That's a real world on the scales weight - 1660g was frame only - without fork.
The frame weight above could be wrong. Specialized don't publish weights so I would've got it off a forum somewhere.
Weigh yours then we get a better idea of frame and fork. Course it depends on the scales and stuff as well.. ;-)
