Going to HH this Saturday for the 11 o'clock session - Anyone down ?

Weather is going to be fine, good opportunity to do the induction (8:45) before winter proper sets in.

The flatmate and I are gonna try and make it, we're only 'round the corner... Assuming I can get my bike built up in the next two days, of course... Don't think my BMX is track legal... ;-)

I haven't been drunk since 1998, it doesn't mean I can get to work earlier than 10am.. I don't see how I'll get to herne hill on a SATURDAY at 8.45.... argh. But I'll do my best, honestly!

They have about seven shipping containers rammed with track bikes so as FixAxioN says they will loan you one for the duration.

If you want to use your own bikes here are the rough and ready rules:

1. Only drop bars permitted on the track (Sucks I know, I want to use my sub-38cm risers)
   
2. Any brakes/levers/brake-hoods have to be removed for the sessions
   
3. No handlebar streamers

My wheels are bein' built today so I hope to get the Grubb up and running by then... I'll be the s-l-o-w-e-s-t there, guaranteed... 40 fags a day (plus inevitable hangover) does not a Keirin sprinter make... Should be a good laff all the same... :-)

Brockwell BMX track is just up the road, I might be over there at some point this weekend

What gear (inches) do people (I mean regular racers - not you street types ;-)) run on their bikes at HH?

I'm thinking of going on Saturday but was wondering what gear to run. Currently 44x16.

It's a bit event-specific.. pursuit gear is gonna be bigger than scratch race gear, etc.

I went last week. I'll probably go this week.

I've been taking my street bike and changing gear from 46/17 to 46/16. When it comes down to it, I'm not that strong so I don't think I'll be comfortable with anything higher unless something amazing happens to either my thighs or my bike.

Dammit - was it on last week? I nearly went but stayed in on account of pissing rain at 7:30 in the morning. How wet/dry does it have to be to be on/cancelled?

nothing good ever happens early in the morning. I slept in and rocked up at 11:30 and it was fine :-)

for this saturday OTOH, forecast is good but i'll believe it when i see it.
