Recently I bought some hand built Mavic CXP33's from Parker International, when they finally arrived 5 days late this Saturday, it turned out they were on black rims not silver... they haven't responded to my email as yet.
Now today I received my track wheels from Planet-X, they managed to send me two front wheels... Unlike Parkers they got back to me with their apologies within 30 minutes. :)
I know who I'll be ordering from next time.
To fill out my 3 most recent items received in the post, today I also received a "new and sealed" gillette razor blade off ebay that came complete with dried facial hair and limescale. YAY!
Should be getting a bottom bracket tomorrow, maybe it'll be a square taper/octalink hybrid model?
Anyway, back to the original post, here's what you do:
- Be nice, explain problem see if they will help
- If #1 fails, be annoyed, tell them it's not good enough
- If #2 fails, tell them you'll be doing a chargeback on your card
- If #3 fails, do a chargeback on your card... :)
Have never had to go to stage 4 yet.

Bloody hell I can get custom color powder coat done for 40.us.
It will never look as vibrant as liquid paint with clear coat. It dulls rather quickly but you can't beat powder coat's resiliency. A really top notch paint job with clear coat is 350. us at cycleart. -

Hey there folks, I'm searching for some lfgss knowledge and input here so I'm thanking you all in advance..
So I've got a Dave Yates 1984-85 track bike (57x57) built in 531, Cinelli cast BB, some nice seat stay fluting and in vgc all over.. However the issue is that in the 90's she was resprayed by a random company and now I'm in a dilemma as to whether I should send her back to Mr Yates for a proper respray and period transfer session..
I doubt I'd get much change from £200 so the question I'm posing is: do you think it's worthwhile? I'd use her as a weekend/smart bike but definitely not as a daily as I've had enough people trying to cut through the lock already!!
All views/input is appreciated, many thanks peeps. Tom -

I reckon it'll cost more like a hundred than two, if you get Dave to do it. Call his number, speak Debbie and ask for a price, he'll do good job on it.
I doubt he'd let you have a set transfers to have someone else put them on, either.

you can also be sure he will check the bike over and not let anything out that is not 100%, especially the paint job, its his name afterall !

I got hit deliberately off of my bike a couple of months ago by a hit and run driver, fortunately I got his details and made a complaint to the police. Thankfully the bike was barely damaged (I took most of the fall), some scuffs to the bar tape and the saddle which can easily be replaced and a couple of very tiny scratches on the frame. I wouldn't normally be that bothered by the scratches but the guy is denying that he hit me so I would like to go to town on him and have the frame resprayed, it is a mid to late 80's Paletti and I would like to keep the paint as authentic and as true to the original as possible and would like a quote to give to his insurance company. Does anyone know where and how I would get it resprayed. For the quote, money is no object and if it is better even to get it sent to Italy for example then so be it, I would just like a quote that is official and can be presented to his company to make it plain that using cars to shove people off of their bikes is not a nice thing to do at all, is fucking dangerous and can end up being very expensive. Also I'm in France if that makes any difference whatsoever. Thanks in advance

Dredging up an old thread. Recommendations for respray please. Considering Cole, Colour tech, and Rourke (as they are local to me). For plain colour alu frame carbon fork, prices seem to be in the region of 150-200. Anybody else I should consider in that price range?
Cheers. Jon -

.
Does anyone know if the fork crown can be chromed without having to repaint the whole fork? I dont want to risk not getting the blades the same as the original colour if I get the crown done. At the moment the whole thing is metalic red. Any one get Argos to chrome for them from scratch?
