got woken up today by a fcuking massive mobile sound stage rumbling past my flat and it was a laugh looking at the pissed up tourists (aussies) having trouble standing and holding on to lamp posts for support last night though lol
We must be neighbours,
Last night ended up just sitting out my window with a friend while we watched the aftermath.
been alot of police action tonight. -

I am more towards Latimer Road station but a couple of the units start from there. You must be more towards Ladbroke Grove.

And yesterday I was at the family function right in the middle of Harrow Road. We had to split just before midnight, because randoms lured by soca started to pouring in to the hall :-) It's got quite messy at the end.

You werent at any portuguese restaurants/cafes on that road were you?
-
• #134
No, my family here is from St Lucia/Dominica/Jamaica, so I've seen all sorts :-)

Only asking... My dad would have been at one of them with his "homies" - the portuguese kind.
-
• #136
Oh no, strictly family business there. I don't like the Carnival anymore. I'm more into old rockers/heavy dub than that new homophobic bashment stuff, so I try to avoid silly places where people care what post code you're from in general. Obviously it has nothing to do with Portuguese, but I avoid that area at this time.

What a b!tch of a ride into work this morning. Glass dodging through from Harrow Road to Nothing Hill gate wasn't cool. Still made it without a puncture though. I'll need an alternative route for the way home I think.
If the b*astard coucil only cleaned the streets better..................

its slowly becoming a non event. a policeman informed my friend they closed/blocked the roads leading to good times, sancho panza and the other sound system that i cannot remember the name of(maybe abushanti or something like that) at 16.00hrs. we were there at 19.15 when those sound systems had been closed down only then did the police break the cordon and allow people to walk down the roads again. that is just plain mean. the only bonus was seeing damo and ellie who we then lost after 3 minutes.
there were more roads blocked off and turned into police fortresses than last year.
not bright times :-( -

definitely felt like a non event by the time i got there. no sound systems, no food, no floats, no stalls. just hundreds and hundreds of police, some in riot helmets, and a few tourists and strollers.
i was hoping the event was gonna run into the night, at least for a few hours. from what coppithat said, it seems they wanted to clear the streets by nightfall. bumped into one bloke who said he saw one copper get shanked in the neck yesterday.
not bright times indeed..

i've only ever been for the last three years and it's always wrapped up by 7?
ended up by the earl of derby after bumping into Gerald.

That went relatively well - only 2 stabbings, hundreds arrested for drugs but no shootings. And it only cost £6 Million to Police for the WHOLE weekend.
Not bad for something that brings in no revenue whatsoever. Still, Kensington and Chelsea can afford it.......

Any stabbings? Sexual assaults? Shootings?
*should always read the post previously before posting

@lpg on goldbourne road at 20.00hrs the police and council officials converged at the roundabout end and slowly walked down the road instructing food seller not to sell or serve anyone else. they they positioned two officers at each seller to ensure this was upheld. it was annoying for a few reasons mostly though because of the visible waste. some of the sellers had large grills half full of barely cooked chicken that would just have to be binned. if you could position yourself maybe 40 metres ahead of the police this did result in amazing meal deals though, as my friends found out. they allowed the food sellers around the corner on portobello road to stay open a bit longer.
police in riot gear at a music and culture festival is so not a good look.
my friend went to the rotterdam carnival a few weeks ago - he said it just goes on until youve had enough, no hassle no bother, just good vibes. its such a shame we cant do that here anymore. -
