  • Started out riding fixed at 79.4 inches and did that all over winter without a problem. Switched to 70 for a while but now using 80.3 with no issues. Never had knee trouble and do over 100 miles per week.

Only time I've had a problem was when trying to stop with my legs at high speed (in the region of 27mph) - really painful jolt as the pedals forced my knee the opposite way I wanted it to go - hurt like hell.

In my experience if you ride smooth (both accelerating and decelerating) then all should be well.

  • Regardless of whether riding fixed or geared, if I try pulling away from a standstill too fast and hard my knees start hurting.... so have stopped doing this & my knees dont hurt.

But duck walking, as shown below is where my knee problems started

  • I rode 75.0 inches and it didnt feel good. after changing down to 72.0 inches my knees got better.
