  • TBF that picture is a bit off, the color is not that dark. Still, it's not what I asked...

Perhaps not but FWIW I like it. Bit confused, what did you ask for?

  • Look Yellow as in a picture shown and left.
I did say I would be the one finding the closest RAL possible, to which Mario
replied, 'I can do it'.. fine by me, he's got more skill than I do. Matching colors
at least. The decals I can't even explain since the dark blue was
always referred to, when talking of the decals.
besides, this is the worst job I've seen from him...

(this is a bit more realistic, color wise)

  • See, looking at this picture and mine just posted, it could be it. But isn't.

  • Looks close, maybe it's difficult colour matching exactly with powdercoat? No excuse for the black decals though.

  • Ah, I see what your saying. I think you should take it back and request a repaint with the correct decals. Is it powder coated or paint?

Can you see a sample before its redone to make sure your happy before the deed.

  • Honestly I can't be arsed about any of the details, the frame is not mine, and it's going abroad.
The owner doesn't mind, and just wants his frame soon, to which I'm glad since it would mean
re-doing the whole thing and re-baking the frame cannot be good.
Personally, I wouldn't care so much, but it's about his work, that's the reason I mostly show this.
He is cheap and whoever goes there needs to bare this in mind. Maybe by posting this example
it may prevent others from being less cautious. Mario has painted frames for me in the past that
    came out splendid.
He is still a choice a very good option... if you're not that bothered.*

  • It's not powder-coating, it's enamel.
There's a huge difference in temperatures.
So much that PC cannot take any sort of decals due to heat.

  • *And I'm a bit of a perfectionist.

    In any other company..maybe.
Mario's 'shop'... well , let's just say you would understand if you knew it.
Logistically he doesn't have the means, specially in color sampling.
This is not a RAL color, it's something he mixed.

  • I am off to see Mario soon with my nearly repaired frame. Thanks for the advice. Luckily I am not 'that' bothered

  • Just make sure you write it down, yourself, and staple it to the frame.
    Not kidding.

  • Besides, i know he would most likely do it, redo it.
I can't be arsed, and so can't the owner. All good.
Had to leave the feedback anyway.

  • Cheers, I will do that. The feedback is much appreciated. Sounds like it would help out Mario too if we are more thorough.

  • it would help to give a reasonable colour reference, the yellow in pictures posted 318 and 329 are, i believe, the same colour ? and the picture posted 330 is yet another yellow ( the one you wanted ? ) give him a picture or swatch of what you want....... colour is not best described verbally. fact. i also bet that look have used different yellows over a period of time.

  • yellow !

  • Colour is not best described photographically either.

The only way to truely judge a colour is by looking at a swatch.

  • but if the photo is exactly the colour you want ?

  • It's going to look different on everyone's screen, so unless you have it printed accurately, it's pointless emailing him a picture for colour reference.

    Everyone's monitor is calibrated differently.

^This basically, it was my fault...

  • but if the photo is exactly the colour you want ?

You are going to be very very very hard pushed getting a photo of a colour to look exactly how it looks in reality.

There are so many factors which affect colour and these are threefold when in photographs.

You even proved my point in the two photographs of the same frame in your post above.

  • Exactly, as many photos as I take there's always a difference.

  • doesnt look too bad anyway. Glad its not yours!

  • i am not saying take a picture of a yellow bike ! just a pictorial representation ( it may also be called a swatch ! ) of the shade "yellow" you want, and don't email it to him, just give it to him with frame ! jesus.....some of you guys could not 'organise a piss-up in a brewery' !

    Sober or pissed?
