  • skullcandy are awesome though.
    and proper hardwearing

  • I want to avoid using ebay though(t)

I've tried CrazyJames's skullcandy hesh, so may go for that, but will look into what you said Max. Thanks.

  • I'm enjoying my Sennheiser HD228's. £40-ish? I'm a bit of a Sennheiser fan anyway, based on their ace microphones and stuff...

  • When I said cheap, I meant like £15. They are really good headphones and if you break them they aren't expensive to replace. Win/Win.

  • Sony are usually amazing sound wise. Can never fault them

  • I'm a AV professional. I mean, I was, before I become the professional forumenger, the father and the guy addicted to spirit... Senheiser all the way. It's a benchmark.

  • There's no point in paying £250 for a sennheiser when a £50-70 Grado will do.

  • Im not paying any more than 50quid.

  • There's no point in paying £250 for a sennheiser when a £50-70 Grado will do.

The same as there's no point to pay for a Senheiser microphone when Beyer can do. Errr... Wrong. Trust me, Ed.

  • The ones I recommended will be more than fine for what you need. Don't bother spending £49.99 just because you don't want to spend more than £50.

  • lol... I'll check them out Max, don;t you worry. Not buying until wednesday!

  • I think I have an old SR-60 lying around, will let you know when I find out.

That comment makes no sense, in fact, id say, on the quality for money side, Senheiser are better than Grado.

The HD555 is good and well worth the money. The equivalent is probably the Grado SR80i which is twice the price.

  • Yeah well Im not paying 250.

  • That's the thing, HD555 are £50 making them well worth the money.

  • Sony MDR-V150.

    Cheap and really good.

+1 Unless you listen to classical. These are very cheap yet sound very good. Sennhiesers are nice but lack any real omph! Grado again are nice but leak noise like a bitch. The high end Grado's also need an separate amp to really make them sing.

Yes, i t depends what you are after. Sennheisers were made to give the true sound. That's why they are industry standard.

It's like some people listen to their hi-fi with bass booster and loudness on.

they are around £75 at most online stores

  • lowest I found was £57, new, on ebay around £30 2nd hand.

£57 in the store where its out of stock?

    True from a compressed format?

  • True to how it sounds. If it's shit, it will still sound shit.

  • EEI speaks the truth ^

I've converted most of my music collection to FLAC since the quality of Mp3 in some instances was deplorable.
However with my old shitty headphones it was acceptable since everything sounded shitty when using them, but i didn't know that until i got my HD595.
Since then all music has become immensely more interesting to listen to, which sounds over the top, but you'll know what i mean when your hear the difference.

this guy from GoodCans.com makes for some interesting reading.

  • Disinclined to bump this thread... but Ipod blamed for nonce riding in front of a tram in Melbourne.
