  • Depends what you want I guess. The cost of 535s is getting into the realms of some really competitively priced custom IEM's.

  • Hmm...custom sounds interesting... do they use the guts (drivers/armatures) from others and repackage into a custon mould??

535s would be the safe option though....

  • Both. Some people re-sell other people's drivers into custom moulds. E.g. http://www.cosmicears.com/product/r0101/

Some people make their own drivers/housing e.g. https://alclair.com/
    http://www.jhaudio.com/
    https://www.acscustom.com/uk/products/in-ear-monitors

Some people can do custom eartips for pre-existing IEM's. e.g. https://snugsearphones.co.uk/

Alclair's are meant to be very good for the money.

  • Just like to tell everyone that RHA S500 are shit. The sound is dry, cold and low. No warmth at all.

  • Initial test of SE215 show much more bass than the PL50 balanced armature IEM. Not a bad thing considering how much music I listen to with heavy emphasis on bass. Going to test them with the Comply TX100 foam tips next and see how that differs. Not impressed with the Shure foam tips at all, they're not memory foam, just foam.

  • Interesting.... Definitely some investigation needed....

  • i accidentally dropped it in the gym...

you're doing it wrong. you're supposed to lift in the gym.

  • Fam they're the best tips ever! Don't need replacing every month like Comply's... Shows how much they're personal preference I guess.

  • My issue with the Shure tips is that they spring back too quickly so I can't get a decent fit. If I use small then they're kind of loose in my ear, and if I use medium then I can't get them in my ear hole without it being uncomfortable. If I use medium Comply, they squidge down nice and good, and then when they go back to original size they are nice and snug and wedged in my ear, no discomfort and really good isolation.

It's got to be a ear hole shape thing.

  • Is it cause you ain't a Shure expect fitter yet? But fair though. If it ain't broke...

  • and @NurseHolliday i really like the shure yellow tips (the huge ones) but they only last about a week before theyre fucked.

I tried complys too and preferred the shure black foam ones which I've settled on eventually theyre not 'the best' but for every day use they were basically the best option

  • @JB @rogan

I'll give the Shure tips another try.

  • I too like the black foam ones, and squelch some washing up liquid through them when they start to not bounce back. They never get back to when they're new, but it's good enough for me.

  • Has anyone tried the Bose soundlink on-ear or Jabra move wireless headphones? Any good?

  • Have you still got em?

  • I bought the Jabra Move wireless. Good value for £60 but not amazing. Struggle a little with the treble I thought. Comfy enough and reasonable quality though.

Some excellent customer service from Sennheiser. I saw online that they do repairs so sent my PXC310 (purchased in 2011 for £180 so 5 years old) off as the left earpiece wasn't working. It was £55 for repair but that didn't seem too bad as I was happy with them otherwise.

Got a call from them saying that they didn't have all the spares available anymore so weren't able to repair them. Did I want a pair of Momentum On-ear wireless headphones instead, free of charge.

Given that these are selling for £290 I was pretty happy with that. First impressions from a very brief listen are they sound pretty impressive.

  • wow. that's great

  • Any good active noise cancelling headphones under £50 ?

Or, should I buy a set of those Bose QC that everyone raves about and give the missus my Audio Technica ANC7B phones?

  • QC35.

    Buy them now. Love mine.

  • Same audio as the 25s but just with bluetooth?

  • Yup. Maybe.

  • Cool, I'm fine with cables so can do with the cheaper pricetag.

  • Hand on a sec...

Could be anecdotal but Bose might have updated the ANC and overall sound with the QC35s: https://www.reddit.com/r/bose/comments/4vba1e/is_it_worth_trading_in_qc25_for_qc35/

Can't find any info on the Bose site but i haven't looked very hard.
