The gearing on the Rollapaluza bikes has been changed, it is now 44-14. Making the races a little longer and better.

Trainers???
fitness helps, technique is the biggest factor, power (therefore power transfer) is almost irrelevant as there is pretty much zero resistance.

Which is why I ended up sitting on my trainer with the roller disengaged the other day, but only managed a disappointing 267rpm ;p

Holy Smoke Batman - what would be a pleasing cadence for you to reach?
If I manage to hit 200rpm I'll be over the moon. Or mooning all over, depending on beer intake...

BMMF has short weedy hill climbing legs

217.5 rpm would get you a 20 second time exactly......(we've worked it all out!)
However that's an average for the whole race....you have to accelerate pretty quick and hold it to get that kind of average, how long did you hold that max rpm for? bmmf?
-
• #143
Yeah.. it's all about the spin.. having chunky legs like mine doesn't help at all..
Clipless? Too much arsing about changing pedals. I'm gonna have to wear my best flip-flops for this event!
Wouldn't wanna lose speed with cheap flippies!! -

winston 217.5 rpm would get you a 20 second time exactly......(we've worked it all out!)
I've never spun at over 200rpm on anything.. looks like I'll be propping up the bar instead..

dogsballs double pluggers hippo!!
Hell yes. With the dragon straps. I have several pairs, in various colours. If anyone has a wedding/church to go to, and find themselves without suitable pluggery, come and see the Big Red Machine...

About a nanosecond.

Soooooo, that's 29mph in my 39x23 for 20 seconds... something to aim for (evil machinations now in effect).

Fekkin e'll 267 and you're dissappointed?
I hit a new max a few weeks ago 41mph on 46 x 18 67.3" gear 205rpm and that was only for a nano second downhill, I usually max around 150 on the flat sprinting :(
I'm gonna lose just hope I'm not last ;) -
• #150
Nah, I'm not disappointed, except that once you've cracked the 4 revs per second mark, you start to fixate on 300rpm (which is clearly never going to happen for my legs, unless I get incy-wincy cranks).
41mph in 46x18 is scary. You must've been in front of the rivet :O
ooooo she can spin cycle me any day
