Just moved from 48-16 to 48-17 and it is a great improvement.I have lost a bit of top speed but average journey times are the same and my knee doesnt hurt off the lights anymore! Bonus

I dunno .... I was trying to explain today that low gear ratios hurt a guy like me on the flat and I can turn 80 GI+ on the flat at low cadence all day but I need the resistance so I don't hurt... very few people get it .. it how my body works .................... argh fuck it.

London = stop, start.
Stop, start = short bursts.
Short bursts = little gears.

So your running 80" in dorset?
-
• #898
42 / 17 (64.9...)
nice and spinny for my weak legs
-
• #899
not yet ... I am running 65 and 70 ... and it hurts me, if I am riding for more than 30 minutes I am just not built for high cadence .. higher than 100 rpm .. I just get tired and can't do it, 60 RPM at some massive gear all day no problem.
I have been up a 16% with 70 GI and that is the only place where I would like lower than 70 GI ... I will be running 75 and 85 GI on my new bike one it is finished.

Fuck me only 60rpm? dude you need to train on the smaller gears to get your speed up. I've just gone up to a 70" and am doing 17% (Swains lane) ok. But at the end of the day its what you feel best with. I dont think your knees will like you in a few year's though.
