I bought a rust coloured one so that it wouldn't look bad when it started to rust.
The I realised it was aluminium.
I feel silly.
71GI when i'm in Belfast (we have fun hills), 75GI (thinking of going for 80) for typical London riding.

70.9GI is my new favourite...good for hills, perfect for traffic and not too shabby for speed either. Very good for my knees.

If you're mathy you can just use the fraction 52/18, simplify it, which in this case is 26/9, so you will have 9 skid patches.

43-17 68", but I think I'll bring it down to 60"-64"

The Soma ran 42-15 for Dunwich Dynamo which was swapped for 42-16 as fast as humanly possible. Much better.

Gravity Bike
Penny FarthingI spotted two of these on Boredway Market today. I don't know what the other one is.
49/19 - enough speed, good for hills, lots of skid patches.

My new one is 78.8 (48/16) because that's what my Langster used to be and I liked that. I was fast back then.
I've been riding geared for the last two and a half years though so it's probably going to kill me

I'm on a 50-16...
Last bike was 52-16 and that was tough leaving the lights. -
• #346
48:18 works for me.
-
• #347
48-17 which has seemed perfect for years but thinking of getting an 18t due to a load of fluid in my knee. arg.
-
• #348
48:15 i can absolutely cane it on the flat with this ratio and can just reach top of kings cross hill - crawling - but going upto 18 or 19 as skids & emergency stops are pretty much out of the question..

work is slow today, so I thought I'd do some stats.
The pics above shows what people are using (posts so far) excluding polo gears and ratios that didn't look rigth to me or could not understand. I'm sure I've missed a few posts and made a few mistakes but should not screw the average too much.AVG bytheway is 69.62
