megaman2016 I'm running 48:16 and finding it nice but on long straights it spins quite a bit, its not to bad going up kings cross hill. has anyone tried 48:15? I'm thinking about getting a 15t cog. I'm wondering why i haven't seen people with this ratio :S
i was using it

i'm 46x16, i beat most people. that said, my friend just got 48x18 today, she was beating me! she also does triathlon whereas i've smoked for the past 15 years.... was funny watching this old geezer in a flourescent jacket in the park panting while he steamed past us up the hill, tho, as we were turning around, then she'd overtaken him a few seconds later. should've seen his face!

When was it that people stopped twiddling and started spinning? Was it about the same time the stopped knocking and starting bonking?

I don't have a favourite, cos I really want a bike with gears. :-P

46x17 - nice, all-purpose gear and 17 whole skid patches (not that I skid so often, but eh...). Gets me both up and down the 'interesting' hills of SF with no problems.

Helen's bike arrived then, I take it.
Has she gone fixed, or still on the freewheel?

I always thought bonking was older than knocking....my dad taught it to me and his racing days were back in the fifties.....
What hill in Kings cross......????
there is a slight "incline" between Kings Cross and the junction (intersection if you must) with Pentonville Rd and Amwell.
