  • Personally I prefer a certain number x a smaller number.

  • Personally, I prefer a number/another number. It's division, not multiplication, you dolts.

  • I prefer a motor.

  • Depends. Usually 48/17 (76 gear inches) because it's pretty good for speed and also pretty good for high cadence riding. I sometimes switch to 48/18 (72 gear inches) for an even higher cadence.

I'm well aware its division but the convention everywhere I look is to write it using "x". Ie 52x16.

  • 54.6 gear inches for sscx in muddy waters (32/16).

  • Riding fixed again after a few months ss. It's made me go weak! I might need to gear down! 46/15 is just about ok.

  • Where do you ride?

  • just got 48 x 19 and it seems i have found the magic gear

  • NW and central.

  • Same as me, maybe grab a 16 and 17t to experiment with.

I find 45x17 to be a good commuting gear for me.

  • "I find 45x17 to be perfect for mad skidzz."

    Damn fixie skidders.

  • NW and central.

Stay strong dude! I'm kinda scared of getting back on a bike now..been off for a few weeks...

  • Yeah i'm gonna experiment with everything now that I have a seta :) Trying different ratios tomorrow. I'll see what feels good.

  • I'm running 48/18 on my Langster. Really like it. Seems like a good balance for climbing and descending:

  • But not skidding.

  • Tyres are too expensive these days to skid.

  • Especially when you don't have many skid patches...

  • Shit a fixie skidder would never say >>>

  • started taking a slightly hillier route home and i am falling out of love with my 48*15 may have to flip it to the 48*17

  • 46/16 The hills stay Ok in this

  • 53x18. I can set a good pace and still stay seated up hills.

  • Ironically there is no such thing as the perfect gear ratio when riding fixed... you're always in the wrong gear.

  • Not true - some days you're always in the right gear.

  • We all get that feeling once in a while I sure... What it really means is you geared too high or too low.
