DT are fatter at the elbow, about 15% more cross sectional area. If Sapim were significantly cheaper or easier to get hold of, they would be an acceptable second best, but they aren't.

That is the correct answer. The problem is that I introduced my GF to Läderach honey chocolate and now she expects me to supply it by the truck load... do I look like a millionaire?

They're fine as far as they go, but the price premium and weight penalty of Alpine III is so small that the only good reason not to enjoy the benefit is that your hub spoke holes are too small to fit them.

Where can I buy this (I'm in Fribourg)? This is a matter of urgency.

I've never been to Fribourg myself though, so no idea about opening times etc., or how up to date google is on this... I just know the Läderach on Bahnhofstrasse in Zürich, and the one in the airport in Kloten.

I have Sapim force spokes in 1mm increments. A 2.3mm elbow really needs a 2.6mm spoke hole. You will probably crack a DA hub in time with the alpine III. done many DA hubs with force spokes and they all seem fine.

I need to start buying silver Force but the cost is enormous for 1mm increments from 270mm to 304mm.

I've pushed Sapim Strong through DA holes. Wasn't pretty but that's what the client wanted.

I’ve just ordered Novatec 6 bolt QR hubs and WTB i21 rims in 650b

Could someone please suggest which spokes I should buy and someone that’s not pricey that could build the in East London?

For non-bladed spokes it's hard to improve on ACI Alpinas, certainly terms of VFM. @arup is an excellent wheelbuilder and very reasonably priced. South East and North East rather than East East but worth the trip.

I'm looking for 20/24 hole hubs to build up a set of 50mm carbon rims and aero spokes (likely Pillar 1420, since they're a bit cheaper than cx-rays)

How much is there to choose from between the ubiquitous Chinese hub models? Ie. Novatec 291/482, Bitex RAF9/12, Powerway R13/R23 et

I've decided to do Hope Pro4 laced to Stan's Notube Grazil MK3, 32h front and rear. I got a deal on the rims I couldn't pass on.

Got a Roval rim 24h that was gonna build on a track hub. Came to put a nipple through the hole and realized the nipple hole is too small? I have built a few wheels before and all the spokes gauges are same (14g), so not sure what this wheel takes. Anyway was thinking is it possible to drill out the holes to fit the spokes i want or will it make wheel weaker?

I’ve got a (new) wheel that’s a tiny bit out of round and rubs on the brake caliper arm once every revolution. As it’s in true laterally, do I just need to increase spoke tension around the bump? Assuming they’re not already really tight that is.

Should I check that it’s not the tyre?

Check the tyre, yes. If that doesn't fix it, tighten pairs of spokes (i.e. both sides) where the rim "bumps" up.
