Open Pro C is for clinchers, Open Pro T is for tubulars, from the look of it.

sub 500g 700c road rims suggestions? Wide would be ideal but ok if not ..

SL23 v2

pricey and also 20mm internal width .. lots of MTB 29er rim options with that width. The tyre mounting shouldn't be a pain; its for road usage with 35c tyres.

sl24.5?
-
• #3782
The new SL23 is easy to mount tyres on an ideal for 35c - except not matching your price point.

DT Swiss R460 - cheap, wide, less than 500g?

Kinlin 31t (or 22t if you don't care about mud or aeros I guess).

wtf is a self-aligning or a thrust ball bearing?
Self-aligning has a spherical race, so that the balls run true even if there is an angular misalignment between the housing and the shaft. A thrust bearing is designed to resist purely axial loads.
I would like to buy 100 7/32 and 100 1/4 balls of appropriately high quality, please link me

Got a pair of used machine built wheels...proper low spoke tension. Sheesh. Well that'll keep me occupied :)
Edit: And indeed it does, the rear was more an egg and the front has a hop. As the wheels were only track cycled (so no potholes) they must've been built pretty bad to begin with. I guess the TL:DR is to check machinemade wheels before use..

Looks like mavic have just remained there rims then. I like there comment the open pro c is probably the best road rim on the market. Best by what standard? Why are mavic still producing rims for sale they obviously can't be bothered to create something modern.

Is it true that Open Pro got markedly worse?

I'm lacing DT swiss R460 rims to DT Swiss 240s hubs, 28h. I think I'll go 3x on the rear, but should the front be 2x or 3x? What would the differences be?
-
• #3796
Spoke angles. 28h=2x both front and back

.

Not got worse as such other rims got better i.e wider and stiffer. There is can be a little bump at the weld join on an open pro but nothing serious.
For 28h rims lacing 2x or 3 is fine. I do 2x because I think it looks better and in theory the shorter spokes give a stiffer wheel but practically there is little difference for the end user in terms of spoke life.

Would be interested in hearing your feedback regarding the R460 rims. Have yet to hear about their quality from someone who has built with them

Anyone seen any details on what are the differences between the Open Elite, Open Pro C and Open Pro C?
Guessing the Elite is a rename of Sport.
