Thanks tester. I'd heard from Chris Juden that contrary to what most mechanics think, if you're doing half radial, the crossed side should be NDS.
But this blew my mind slightly :
the right way to solve the problem is to have more spokes on the NDS ...
I'm assuming that's a typo? Surely more spokes on the DS, less spokes on the NDS? Or again is the recieved wisdom actually cobblers?

I'm assuming that's a typo?
You assume correctly. I was originally going for a more verbose construction and cocked up the edit in my head :-)

There is actually a new rim type that I have been told about that seems to try and mimic the Enve 3.4.
It's 35mm depth x 25mm width coming in at 360g per tubular rim (U shape). Sounds the perfect climbing with descending stability combo (famous last words).
CK R45 front (18h): 102g
CK R45 rear (24h): 224g
35mm x 25mm rims: 720g (360g each)
Sapim CX-Ray spokes: 183g (42 x 4.36g)
12mm ALLOY nipples: 13gTOTAL: 1242g

Which rims?

A new one that lightbicycle seem to be doing (although I am not sure my mechanic here is using that company specifically as he is ordering from Taiwan). Link to a very similar thing below:

Arent these lighter, deeper, and wider. For $10 more (or less considering the free shipping).
http://www.asiancyclexpress.com/road-cycle-cross/carbon-rims/wide-u-series/38mm-tubular-25mm-width-wide-u-carbon-road-rims-wu3tOr a little narrower for 20g less.
http://www.asiancyclexpress.com/road-cycle-cross/carbon-rims/wide-aero-series/38mm-tubular-wide-aero-carbon-road-rims-wa3tThese ACE rims have a solid spoke bed. So can withstand decent tension. Ie. We use the same length spokes on their 60mm deep rims as our old 56mm ones from Hongfu.

Think my chap has already pulled the trigger on the 35mm ones.
No massive problem though. He has used these before and thinks a lot of them.

• #3288
Well the Dimensions are pretty darn similar, and the weight within error margin of each other. So no big difference.

And in with the new. Weights including a massive 24 veloplugs. Very pleased with the result, my first "high tech" wheel, only done 3x with box alu rims before.

Spoke question: Wheelbuild with 32h open pros - laced 3x - Rear spokes def. Sapim Race. Could I go Sapim lasers on the front or not bother and just stick to race all round?
Originally wanted to use some pillar spokes with a triple butting down to 1.5 in the middle but they're hard to get.

Could I go Sapim lasers on the front
You could, but I wouldn't bother. 28 Race would be better than 32 Laser, if you aren't already committed.
Xdomx alloy nipples are not an issue. Used so so many times. Glad you going with tubs. I am about to build a sinilar wheelset but with white industries t11 hubs.
