Im quite new to this all, but excited to say that I am going to buy a Fuji Track after reading this forum. They sound like a good starting bike and look pretty shexy. Im looking forward to spending a lot of money doing it up!
Dont.
Spend lots of money doing it up that is. The only thing it needs and will benefit from is new pedals, saddle to one you are comfortable with, a different sprocket to give a normal gearing and a front brake/lever. Everything else will be fine for ages. -

Hey, i've had my classic track about two weeks and both wheels are totally untrued. is this due to them being crappy wheels, or evans maybe not tightening spokes properly?
haven't been doing any curb hopping. -
• #1987
That shouldn't have happened, but it's quite normal for new wheels to need a re-truing shortly after they've been built. Take it back to the shop, explain that you only bought it two weeks ago. That said, the wheels that came with my Fuji weren't great (but that was a 2006 model) and I replaced them very quickly. If you can afford to spend £100 on better wheels, it's a very worthwhile investment. Use the other wheels on a rat bike.

Yeah, my wheels sucked. Loose ball and shitly welded rims. Bad stance. I just replaced the back wheel, was gonna do the front next but bike got chored! Oh well! Lovely frameset though. I think they should sell it as an aftermarket frameset too.

Well as those who have met me probably know i ride a Fuji Track 2008 (classic) frame with nothing else Fuji (i bought the frame off here and built it up).
With the cycle to work scheme looming i'm wondering if its worth getting a Fuji track Pro (for no other reason than coz i can). What are peoples opinions on the pro, are they worth the money (RRP £799 at Evans, total cost to me £469 or £39.15 a month)...

the seat tube situation on the track pro is ridiculous if you plan to ride on the street. Get the track comp, it is currently on sale at evans and works out peanuts on cycle to work scheme.

Yeah i noticed the seat tube setup, its a bit bizzare to say the least! What makes it so bad for the street, is it massively uncomfortable or something?

just unpractical mate. it's also not drilled front or rear so I think you would have trouble getting it on cycle to work. the track comp is in evans spitalfields and evans holborn if you wanna see it in the flesh. i think it's awesome.

Cool thanks for the info mate - as far as i can see on the Evans website the track comp does not come with brakes but it doesn't say if its drilled or not?
I printed out the spec list for the two and basically the majority of the parts are the same (apart from the frame and wheelset - forks are identical model) and if they are different they're hardly critical, e.g. griptape, lockring etc.
The only thing putting me off the comp is the colour scheme and i much prefer the wheelset on the comp?
I've never done bike 4 work before, do they exclude certain bikes (i.e. track bikes)?
Sorry for the multitude of questions, just wanna be damn sure - may pop up to spitalfields for a nosey after work...

they are getting stricter on what you can get on cycle to work,* might* not let you get the pro because it is not drilled even though it has the same fork as the comp which is definately drilled (i've seen it in the flesh). i think you get better wheels and cranks on the pro same pro logo saddle, bars and stem. chalk farm evans has em both if you want to go and compare side by side

• #1995
Cool cheers JV, i may head up there after work to see them both ;-)

cool let us know what you get. I had my heart set on the comp and tried to talk my girl into getting it for me on her cycle to work scheme but the bitch wouldn't have it.
hope she doesn't see this........

Lol, well i ain't got the voucher yet - tbh i know i'll end up going for the track pro even if my sensible side says otherwise... we shall see.....

Can anyone link me to a guide on how to install the brakes? Complete beginners here..

At a guess, Jen, Sheldon Brown probably has the info you seek. Or is it something specific about the brake/frame combination that is puzzling you?
