  • Why get a bike with track geometry if you don't like the geometry?...

  • fixietrackengeringtarckie

  • I didn't say I don't like the geo, I'm just not used to it ;)

  • Today I received my Fuji Track 56cm. First of all it feels a bit weird riding a bike with such a geometry (I've never rode a Track Frame or something like this!) because on my old bikes I had an upright riding position. I think it's because of I have to lean forward while sitting so I can reach the handle-bars.

I think I buy myself a freewheel sprocket, a straight or riser-bar so I don't have to lean forward THAT much and some brakes :D and then I'm goin to take some pics for you guys!

was your old bike an MTB? that explain the big difference in riding position then.

If I were you, just change the rear cog to an 18 or 19t one, it will make a difference before getting a freewheel.

  • Definitely, 48/15 is no fun in my opinion

  • I found out yesterday the the 08 model at least is barspinable :D

  • Nah I'm getting a Freewheel and try to chase some cheap 18t rear cog for the other side.

It's a fixed/fixed FlipFlop Hub. Do I have to get a threaded freewheel cog like this:

    ???

  • Yes that freewheel will work, careful with getting a cheapo cog though, could strip the threads on your hub...

  • I found out yesterday the the 08 model at least is barspinable :D

    The 09 Model w/ 28c tyres is not :(

Yeah with the 48t/15t gear it will break your knees on trying to skid

  • I found out yesterday the the 08 model at least is barspinable :D

    Woah woah woah, woah!

    Talk more on this. True?

2 mates who've just bought them, i've not had a bash on either yet and certainly not tried that shit on them!

  • Anyone up for an idea which handle-bar I should choose?

I definetly want a riser-bar and it has to fit into the Fuji stem ;)

  • MTB bars are usually 25.4mm (which is what the Fuji is). Just try and get a cheapie one from someone on the forum or from a shop. I got mine for free.

just found this, this will give me a riding posture which is more upright?

  • ...or keep the drops you have and put your hands on the flats at the top for the majority of the time and down into the drops when you're going at it, for less wind resistance.

  • Well, I don't like the drop bars that much. Also a bit higher bars would be perfect, thats why I took a look on risers

  • higher bars? You could get a stem with a rise maybe.

    Just offering an alternative :)

  • I try to change the height with the risers, I think the 25-30mm this will give is enough and I can keep my stem ;)

Yeah. They'll work. Remember to chop them down before you use them. They'll be mega wide probably.

Don't dump your drops. Hang onto them. One day you'll want to try 'em out again and you'll kick yourself for selling them.

  • I've never thought of selling them, I just want to get into the track geo a little bit more comfortable ;)

  • Woah woah woah, woah!

Yeah the 08 model with the stock 25c on the front with a few mm to spare.
Just found out when I flipped my stem, I have a brake so not doable for me.

i think the guy in the video won ecmc fixed tricks last year?

  • now im really confused.. I look at the Giants Cranks and the Fuji's Cranks.. and they look the same to me.

Then you need to buff those varifocals!

  • I'm quite possibly buying a new Fuji.

If I was to sell the spanking new wheelset, complete with tyres, cog/lockring etc. What do you reckon I could get for those?

  • is there even a difference between the 08 and 09 ?

  • Different paint, cranks, hubs (now sealed), and the 2009 has a 1 1/8th steerer (I think the 2008 was 1" ahead).
