  • i'll have to check it out and sample this fabled dark budvar. what do you ride in case I spot you? (maybe I should check the bikes and faces thread...)

  • a big dark grey steamroller - say hi if you catch me on my travels. not in that thread yet mate, have to get a photo sorted. i nick a gold rimmed budvar pint glass everytime i go there

  • They've got it in a bar in canary wharf, but I guess that's too far east foe 95% of this forum. Is it only The Brick and myself from the east?

  • Newcy brown (or broon, as it is locally pronounced), is notoriously difficult to find on tap in england. At the moment the trent is the ONLY pub i have found that does it. You can get it on tap in almost every bar in america apparently.

Thing is, the Trent gets it directly from the brewery, so legend has it it's the freshest broon you can get anywhere in the world. all i know is that it tastes pretty excellent. almost chocolatey! especially after the 2nd pint. haha

  • There was a pub in Abgindon Oxon called something like the tap that was on the front of the old morlands brewery, that had beer pumped straight from out back.

  • Thing is, the Trent gets it directly from the brewery

where else would it get it?

    it's Geordie piss, anyway

  • it's fucking awful, that newcastle crap..

the only drink that made me puke my guts right off when I was 18, I never touched the stuff since.

  • Well they have some special arrangement with the brewery, hence having it on tap. they say if you drink more than 5 pints of it in series you go insane. and i AM a geordie, so fcuck all you southerners! :D

  • 5 pints!

I thought you Northern chavs could drink!

fucking hell, there's six year olds in Peckham that could do five pints and run a mile on it, Special Brew too.

  • you're the one who was sick after drinking newcy broon. and the difference is, all you bloody southerners are insane already, hence the 6 yr olds drinking special brew.

  • amen to that

  • Sam Smith's are alright as far as I can see.. I've been to the Lyceum a few times seeing as it's directly opposite my university but for me, nothing beats a pint of Adnams..

  • Thing is, the Trent gets it directly from the brewery, so legend has it it's the freshest broon you can get anywhere in the world.

I'm confused. In Ireland all larger, stout and cider that is "on tap" is "direct from the brewery" (managed by Diagio), and pumped from "out back" usually from a cold room.

I don't drink a lot and never pints so what the hell kind of ship are you guys running over here?

    Peace

  • Sam smiths = no guinness and for that reason im out.

  • Betty Stoggs, Cornwall's best.
    Theakston's Yorkshire's best
    Harvey's Sussex's best

  • Chimay Blue
    Gulden Drak
    San Francisco Steam Porter

Heaven in a glass, but don't have too many!

  • I like blue WKD

  • Sam Smith's do a lovely oatmeal stout in bottles, pricey for them at £3.60 or so, but lovely. Their bitters aren't too bad but their whiskey is nasty

  • Ha! Ha! VB used to be called David Casanova K.

    Ah...lovely stuff... wipes eyes

  • was just in belgium the taste of some of the beers i drank there was way above any UK beers, triple karmeliet caramel flavoured beer but not in a sticky sweet caramel way just beautiful taste 9% though it doesn't taste like it.
st louis gueze if anyone ever gets a chance to taste a glass of that stuff it's delicious
