  • Hippy - watch this space. I'll see how the afternoon develops, and post here sometime after 4pm.

  • Ah cr@p! My brain doesn't work! Yeah.. rest day today. Duh
I've not left yet.. boss still piling work on.

  • thread resurection:
    I bought a park fr6, i bought a corresponding 25mm spanner (adjustable, unfortunately).
    I attempted to unscrew, counterclockwise.
    I have ruined the spanner
I have slightly rounded the tool
I have narrowly escaped hammering my thumb

does any body have any suggestions for how to get it off? it seems to be locked tight (i assume it tightens when I go up hills, as it is a 16t wheel from a 46x16 set up, and I weigh about 17 stone, i think i may have tightened it considerably.....)
I could go to a bike shop and prob get it done for £10, but then next time i want to mess around with it and change it i'd have to do the same....

    thanks

  • I have now seen this thread, I just need to find a spare length of scaffolding pole...........!

  • keep the tool lightly bolted on using the axle until it is loosened then remove the track nut.

  • thanks, tried that with the track nut, stops it flying off, but it just won't budge.

i don't know whether it was greased when it was put on (i didn't do it...)

    hmmmm

  • ive just searched the park tool website, and rather worryingly

This model of freewheel has no removal tool fittings of any type.

am i to assume the only way to remove this freewheel is to take dismantle it and remove the core with a f*** off big wrench?

  • no chain whip the worng way round and lots of force, or a large grinding tool could work.
