  • So, it looks like a lockring, Sheldon says it's a lockring, but it aint budging with my dodgy hammer and screwdriver method.
Need to remove the freewheel to replace the spoke which kindly pinged out up Dartmouth Park Hill this evening and it's gonna be a damn site easier without my redundant freewheel in the way.
Tips? Special tool needed? Anyone got one I can borrow?
    Cheers!

  • You sure it's a lockring on yer freewheel?

You need a bmx freewheel remover.

Yer welcome to mine, cos I don't have a freewheel any longer, but it's not ideal.

Get one with a hole in the top so you can bolt it on. That way you'll do much less knuckle skinning...

  • cheers, looks the job!

  • Like I say, you're welcome to mine, but mine doesn't bolt on.

    So it's not ideal.

    In fact it's sh1t.

  • hey kowalski. i might be interested in the nuckle-skinning remover.

  • How bizarre.

Just looked it out and it does indeed have a hole.

So first dibs to brett, else hovis.

    I live Camberwell, work Clerkenwell.

  • i live in southwark, work clerkenwell. perhaps i could borrow it for ten minutes if you're in clerkenwell at some point?

  • Wouldn't mind trying it - when are you in Clerkenwell until? Can be there by about 6:15 but otherwise might be difficult!

  • Hovis is borrowing it at 10.

Liaise with him and nab it when he's done.

  • hippy raises hand for loan of bmx tool

When I've got the 3/32 for the Soma I'll want to remove the freewheel. I have two bloody road cassette ones but no bmx ones.

  • Form an orderly queue!

Can't be arsed to administer this scheme meself.

If anyone needs it sort it out amongst yerselves, let me know when you're all done with it.

  • Nice one Kowalski, will do!

  • I'm in no rush for it - still haven't got a 3/32 for the other side yet so I'm still singlespeeding..

  • it's heading to brett next and then it's making its rounds from there.

cheers for the tool, kowalski. much appreciated.

  • I've got one of those tools as well. Can lend to anyone who goes anywhere near the city (or a few miles radius thereof), and happy to drop off/collect.

Let me know if you need it...

  • The city, as in, near Liverpool St.?
I work in Broadgate and need one of these.

  • Yeah. I live in Old St (council flat, not yuppie wanker).

I finish work about 2ish tomorrow and should be back in EC1 by half past. Post/whisper me where you want it dropped off or whatever. No problem cos the boy's in nursery till 5pm :-p

  • Is that the bit with the ice-rink sometimes? Anyway, yeah, it's a stone's throw.

I'll give you a bell 2.30ish. I'd rather act on it now (hate cluttering up my brain with more pending stuff), and I never use it, but lend it often. Take your time.

Last time it saw the light of day, was with about 4 foot of pipe attached to an adjustable wrench, trying to get a Shimano FW off my Goldtec hub. No joy, couldn't be arsed sorting out someone with a vice, so have just given up.

  • I had the same trouble with the cog on the Raleigh, so just left it on. Guess I'll see ya on the 'moro. Cheers!

  • Right - all done. If anyone wants it next let me know, otherwise I'll give it back to Kowalski.
    Cheers!

  • BringMeMyFix: I've finished with your FR-6 too so I can drop it off Monday or whatever suits..

  • Okay - maybe same time, same place, unless someone else pipes up asking for a loan of it.

  • Ja. cool. Just give me a call.

  • brett Right - all done. If anyone wants it next let me know, otherwise I'll give it back to Kowalski.
    Cheers!

glad it posted to you alright. for some reason i had this weird thought that it would get lost in the post.
