Anyone got a bagaboo?

  • I'm in dire need of buying a new bag. My Eastpak backpack kills my back, acts like a sponge in the rain and is far too small for me.

I've been looking at Bagaboo. They're so cheap! I'm pretty sure someone on here has one; I was wondering if they could post a few pics of theirs because I find Bagaboo's pictures a bit clinical, if you see what I'm saying?

I've had a look at Chicago WIG too, they look reaaaally nice too and the exchange rate is very favourable at the moment.

  • Hops was saying how uncomfortable her new bagaboo was, pain on her chest , something about the strap digging on her it.

  • Chicago WIG are very cool bags, wonderfully made and 100% functional. However, they're not quite as pretty as a Bagaboo.

    Here's mine:

The Flickr pages are here if you want to zoom in more:

  • Is nice. I like. How much was that DK?

  • Can't recall. I never really know how much things cost. I think it was worth it though, as I didn't go hungry to get it and I do love it.

  • Ta, David. What size is that by the way? I think I might need to measure my back because I dont' want to be swamped by it and look like a turtle :)

Stef Hops was saying how uncomfortable her new bagaboo was, pain on her chest , something about the strap digging on her it.

    Could be because she's female?

Hmmmmm I'm so tempted by the wig, too. Decisions! I quite like the chrome bags too, but they're not custom and are expensive I think for what they are.

  • If you get the Wig I can make sure that he sends it marked as a "gift" to avoid the Customs. The man is great and really good at communication and keeping you informed of progress.

  • Oh, and mine is the large workhorse.

I measure the diagonal length of my back and picked the size that would distribute weight evenly without overhanging.

The cross strap takes ages to get used to, but it's dead comfy once you're used to it. It did take a while though.

  • I can't say enough nice things about Tamas and Bagaboo. He's really nice, and the bags are rock-solid.

The only thing I would change is that the strap is very thin (being a seatbelt 'n'all), so it does tend to twist and can dig in if it's not seated right.

  • I've got one, nice to be able to adjust the big strap whilst riding, and compression straps for the base are a good extra (and the foam insert thingy).

I'll try to get some pics up later today. And yes, Tamas's customer service was very good.

  • I think that most messenger bags aren't as comfortable on girls (for obvious reasons), and so girls need to be a bit luckier with the strap design suiting their bodies.

  • ya but she was sying how her chrome was more comfortable...

  • BringMeMyFix - cool, look forward to seeing them.

Sounds like Tamas is extremely helpful :) I'll get someone to measure my back later then. The compression straps are a must I think... large bags look so stupid when they're not filled.

Do they make your back sweat loads btw? I'm sick of my backpack making me sweaty. I'm tempted to just buy another backpack but with one of those things on the back that hold the bag away from you, if the mess bag still will loads :-/

  • I wear mine more in the winter, and usually go for panniers in the summer if I have to turn up presentable. But if it's really hot, you're back's going to be sweaty whatever, unless you wear some kind of wicking top... or ride really really slowly, which I seem incapable of in traffic :-0

  • I've got a large courier bag. Cost around €162...including shipping. Not particularly cheap but well made and full of features. I went with all the extras with the exception of the laptop sleeve which ramped the price up a bit. It takes around 4 weeks from placing the order to getting it.

  • scott not scot all bags make you sweat...those pad things that hold it away from your back dont work...cause they still have to touch your back somewhere....and then the sweat patch just spreads...imo

Yep plus you loose loads of space with those ones that hold it away from your back.

I am after a good backpack at the moment, a few heavy load of late have had my shoulder feeling as if it is about to fall off after 30 min or so but the shape of hiking ones is wrong for riding. The wig ones look good but pricy.

  • tommy seen try now

  • your link is to a wiki page on http?

Yep I am a baby wipe man. Not purfect but makes your feel alot better.

  • my solution for long rides is a bumbag, yous on the ride on saturday saw it, i could fit an inner tube, bottle 2 cliff bars a t-shirt, a maglite mini easily.
when its hot i just chuck a spare t-shirt, a pair of socks and a hand towel in my bag, i'm thinking about baby wipes.

  • You wipe babies and it makes you feel better?

  • i use kentucky wipes...do the job 8^)
sorry tommy, re-done the above link

  • cheers murtle

  • no worries
there is a few on there

  • baby wipes also get most food and grime out of clothes.
my mum always has a pack for when my brothers chuck food down
    themselves in restaurants!

  • It's a standard type, in large size. Elmore's a big cat, but he got in comfortably with the compression straps fully 'on'. The most I've carried in it was 16 x 500ml bottles of beer, from the Angel to Old Street. The bag was fine, but I had a bit of trouble keeping the front wheel down :-p
