hippy Since arriving home at 2pm mine was: 5 chicken fajitas, half tin refried beans, four/five pints various soft drink, bowl of icecream, half pack after dinner mints, 3/4 loaf of stilton bread, some garibaldi biscuits, some lollies, cheese and ham sandwich, glass apple juice (not necessarily in that order)
thats more calories than I eat in a week

didn't read most of this but i'll give my opinion.
-i tried bananas, chocolate, mars bars, snickers....taste good but won't do much
-big ups to the cliff bars, had one and a half last night and they sorted me out well, and they taste nice.
-isotonic gel....it's like drinking tropical flavour vomit! and dunno how much of an isotonic it really is as i still had toi drink about 4 pints of water when i got home. The fact that it was warm probably didn't help but i'm gonna keep myself away from that stuff.

I'll let you into a secret its called 'middle age' at a certain age you have stop eating all that shite and start eating rabbit food otherwise you end up looking like this
-
• #32
haha.. I plan on being dead before middle-age. That's why I'm livin' it up now.
-
• #33
i saw a thing a few years ago on the tour de france coverage about what they eat...in the morning before they set off they had a big bowl of pasta, and they ate jam/maramalade sarnies on the road! strange, but true.

hippy haha.. I plan on being dead before middle-age. That's why I'm livin' it up now.
me and all, but just as middle age approached, I ended up in rehab
& to cut a long story short thats why I now eat dried fruits and live the life of the-smiling-buddha
-
• #35
Not done rehab yet but had the 'you might've died/you might still die' thing and it just made me more hedonistic than I was.
I have to say though that it's kinda relative, ie. I'm a big fscking square so being more hedonistic for me is like having two sugars in coffee instead of one :)
(I have no sugar in coffee actually)
That's not a photo of you above is it? -
• #36
wot that fat bloke, nah, I don't look nothing like that
-
• #37
I have only got to lose 3 kilos and I'll be down to my abs
-
• #38
Bastard. If I lost hmm.. 20kg I'd have visible abs. I'd also be a fscking slow cyclist and probably be in hospital on a drip feed..
-
• #39
I'll let you into another little secret, its easier to lose the first twenty than the last three, night night 'ippy geezer
-
• #40

:O bloody hell hippy!
How many miles are you riding home?
-
• #42
That's not after a commute, that's after a club run of around 120k at the end of which I was feeling fairly sh1te.
I didn't have to eat all that but it's easier than storing it for the next day :) -

I generally eat pretty healthily. In between meals I'll eat bread with olive oil, fruit and raw veg like cucumber. Not too much fruit though, it does give you the shits when eaten in large amounts.
I've been a fan or the energy providing wonder of bananas since well before I got back into cycling. They keep your breath fresh too.
Generally I eat carbs at lunch, and do before long rides, then veg in the evening. A little meat with both, but only about 4 nights a week in the evening. I love meat but not in large amounts on a daily basis - it's not great on your bowels. That said, my diet only really affects my energy levels and perhaps my long term susceptability to heart disease. I'm a skinny fucker and my diet seems to have no relation whatsoever to my weight.
I do have a glaring exception to the healthy eating though. I have a strong penchant for these:

My breakfast..

So having avidly read all of the above I am about to embark on a two hour ride and I am presently eating a peanut butter and dried banana sandwich I have a few boiled sweets in my bag just in case I bonk & I have chicken breast and salad for when I get home although I probably spin by the 'japanese' on the way home for take-away noodles - you know just in case ...;)
