Why the hell would you rather ride a Bob Jackson than a Cannondale Track?

wild stab in the dark, but a nagging feeling would be that it's slightly more comfortable.

I'm just bitter that any lugged steel frame in my size would flex like a noodle.

I'm just glad Max is only a young pup and can enjoy all the joys of cycling; before the advent of Alu and carbon for bike frame use anyone over 6'2" could not risk riding a bike as the steel tubes would be of much use as wet spagetti.
Miguel Indurain was in fact only 4'6"
And fuck knows how Edwig Van Hooydonck was racing back in the 80's, I put it down to which craft.

This seems like the best place to start.
My latest bike, which will actually have a brake as I have no skill and no balls. First fixed I've owned without drops so we shall see how that goes.
This is me (with face fluff) having an amazing time in the pub.

Nice looking bike! Welcome too. And good for you for being brave and saying you have a brake. Its the 1st step. Good for you!

Stiff, light aluminium VS. heavy, wobbly steel...
HMMM, tough one...

You're one to talk, you got a bloody steel fork.
-
• #9850
True, but at least it doesn't compromise power transfer through lack of stiffness.... [/nerd]...
it's a hard life
