Hello everyone :)
Also got another fixed gear, a modified brown langster, currently with another frame in the post so I can swap the parts onto it as I hate my langster so SO much...

I like it. Those couple of flashes of pink work really well with the rest. Also like the assorted selection of ray guns T.

Haha thanks, that's a Threadless tshirt, they have some good stuff.
Mattty... I'm guessing by the exclamation that you don't like it? :-p Had a bit of money to blow from my birthday so I thought I'd make something really crazy looking that would stand out! Except I'm now paranoid about leaving it locked anywhere, and have to use my other bike if I think I'm going to be leaving it somewhere for a while... kinda defeats the purpose really :-/

Blimey that's heavy! what did the langster failed at?

RSGE, You realize that your bike doesn't fit you?

49cm is fine for a 5ft 2" person...Maybe because I'm standing behind it and holding it in front makes me look a bit smaller than I am?
-
• #8487
oh and yes, the langster... it's ok, I just think the frame is ugly. I'm not really a fan of ovalised tubing really. I don't hate it really, I guess I was exaggerating ;) I've had it for about 3 years now and it's doing my head in!

Are you sure you're 5'2? you do look a bit smaller than you are.
she's commenting on the saddle being very close to the to frame.

I realize that my asumption might seem odd.
Your seat is down very low, and your stem is very long. It looks like your frame is too large and you've been playing around with a way to make it more comfortable.
I would say that it is actually a bit large of a frame size for someone of your hight, Mary is the same height and rides a 46, I think.
Because I have a very short body in comparison to my legs, like allot of women do, I compensate by buying a smaller frame (54) then what a man my height (5'10") would ride and jack the seat post up and get a short and high stem.BTW, I really am trying to be helpful, not condiscending, but the internet is a hard place to get that across some times.

to put it in persceptive, the idea frame height for my missus (who is 5'4), is a 48.5cm one, and she have normal legs height (however you call it).

ahh I see what you mean. I've actually got the seat up higher now than in that picture. That was the day I got it all together and I was actually a bit worried it was too big for me, but I do feel fine on it. Your leg is meant to be fully extended if you sit in the seat and put your foot on the pedal at it's lowest point, and with the seat at the height in the picture my leg was still bent, so I've put it up now.
Here's a pic of me with the seat as it was in the picture before I put it up. I think I look fine on it?

Looks cool.
But not entirely true on the leg measurement, your not supposed to have your leg bent as such, but it's important not to let your knee lock as well (this created more work for your knee).
Lots of research you can do with this, but it is important if you don't want to have to have knee surgery before your thirty.

I also found it really hard to find anything nice that was 49cm or under. I always just wanted an old race bike to convert but can never find anything small, it's impossible to find, everything is way too big! This has always been a problem for me, my background is in bmx, which I've ridden for 6 years now (street) and I have to run an 18.5"tt, which is TINY. I have to run a flatland frame on street because no companies make small frames - it's mad considering most people who ride bmx bikes are kids who NEED small frames!

ahem ... i AM thirty (I just look about 12 haha), so I've gone past the "knee surgery before you're thirty" stage ;)
-
• #8495
Oh you're thirty?? christ you look like you've just finished school!
-
• #8496
hmm, is that a compliment or not? At least I don't get ID'd at the offlicense any more now!
-
• #8497
Well, even more reason to be kind to the knees (I'm nearly there myself, but also on the verge of surgery).
Mary rides a Surly ( I do too), and I love it. You can get them super small. In any case, you are comfortable on your bike, so it's perfect. I rode a few bikes that were a bit big for me before finding an otp frame size that suited me.

I do. It fucks me right off.

well, if you're going to look 30 by the time you reach 50, then yes!
I do. It fucks me right off.
hah, I look like a 30 years old bloke yet still got asked for ID when I was in America, I have a balding head ffs.

Yeah, but the US is different. We ID grandmothers.
lol. i've got a lot of flak from having the saddle at that angle!
i've tried it in lots of positions, this is comfortable for me.
also.. considering this thread: http://www.londonfgss.com/thread9149.html , the nose doesnt interfere with... things...
also it looks smokin' hot that way ;)
