i remember those from the 80s. They were the coolest thing going for a while, mine eventually decayed and started to leave little black bits on my hands but before that they were cool.
still, you shouldn't be getting numb hands so something isn't right with your position. Cyclefit's expensive personally I've always had luck with the mechanic's at the lbs. Failing that there's bound to be something online about position that could help :) -

Was getting kind of worried for a minute. I have noticed my left hand is still considerably weaker than it once was.
