• That's a really thoughtfully put together bike OhMyGosh, I really like it. Just out of interest, how much did it cost you to put together? I should be a fucking poster bike for 'build stuff yourself on a budget', and new members should be required to stare at it before asking about what to buy for £200.

Saying that, componentry wise, your bike hardly looks cheap. I might even be tempted to stick white tyres on there and rattle can your cages.

  • oops... and the pics!!

i saw this being ridden about at the fixed3 / council of doom thing at 14 a couple of months back, so nice, came close to getting a white rolls saddle myself.

  • This is fucking cool, PP

Biggest brake lever I ever used on a pedal powered machine, it's the big bit sticking up in front of the saddle which leaves you thinking about your ability to reproduce in the future should you crash!

yeah it got ridden by a couple of people that night! come and say hi if you're about for the bootleg sessions tuesday...

  • That bike is lovely! Rear needs gumwall too.

    +1

  • Dunno about their durability but:

there are actually a pair of veloflex tires in two boxes between the arse and the X1/9 in my photo. they re beautiful things but so thin, so they just stay in their pretty card boxes.

  • My new ride...I look the same but with less claw.

  • @ @tlas - looks like the adjustment lever on the front brake is not flicked down fully.

  • Yea i've had some trouble with that. When it's down there's not enough room so i just leave the fucker up. I guess i just need a longer cable right? Just not got round to trying to sort it out.

  • been in london four months now, finally took some pictures of my bike, got to love cellphone cameras.

if you see it around feel free to say hello, i don't bite much.

not enough room for what? it looks like there's plenty of spare cable at the end. Undo the nut on the brake caliper, flick the switch down, hold the caliper to your preferred position, and re-tighten the nut. (see sheldon / park tools for better instructions ;) )

  • Cheers Matty...Only recently started to sort my own problems (with bike) out. Learning curve and all that.

  • No worries. It's fine to leave it as it is (AFAIK) - the switch thingy is just to loosen the brake caliper a little to let you remove the wheel.

  • cheers! yeah someone got all italiano with the paint.

are there actually any long wearing gumwall tires out there?

+1 on veloflex, great tyres and they last well! (on a road bike so maybe not)

note to self - must steal andypancakes bike collection ;) really nice mate!

I got my first bike as a birthday gift when I turned 23 or 24.. I forget. Anyway, it is my first bike and came with steel wheels and gears. It has since then lost weight and upgraded to 650c Velocity wheel-set and has a flip flop hub (I ride it on the fixed side now).

I will be in London June 26-July 5 .. hope to join you on some rides
