  • Here is something for everyone to take the piss out of... but to be fair reserve final judgement until I'm in London week of May 12 and give me a handicap for weight, age and 70" gear and try to keep up. Please say hi I'm hard to miss (I hear huge belly laughs as I go by very often).

and lol if you take me up on it - for beers!

Like it, it looks like fun.

  • Hi all! I'm a long time lurker here! Thought I'd introduce myself (and my rides)

    Working bike:

    Fun bike:

And me - a few months ago, during our glorious winter:

  • that last one, is making me dizzy

improper use of a comma, -10 pts!!

  • I'm going to come after you s. sliner, and I'm going to rip your spamming balls off.

Just report them (and leave hateful comments if that's your bent) :)

  • already done.

  • what, being "bent" or wanna be "bent"? or just generally "bent"??

  • Oh Canada Riff - I'm speachless and i'm not that far from you and do a bit of riding in winter but still on roads. I count 4 bikes 3 fixed or SS and the last one looks like it has race numbers or something on it and gears?
Can you tell us about the ice bike and its tires (studded ?).
They all look great (I didn't know Condor was in Canada), where abouts are you?

Hi agleopar! I'm in Toronto, and ride all year 'round! The 3rd bike - with the fat tires, is a single speed Surly Pugsley, with sheet metal screws installed on tires for traction. The last pic is a multigear cx bike, with Schwalbe Marathon Winter carbide studded tires - works fine even on solid ice!

I bought the Condor through the UK - sadly they are not yet available in North America. Where are you located?

  • Ahha, just as I suspected and thanks for the " Schwalbe Marathon Winter carbide studded tires" they sound just the ticket for next year or I will just get out the screw gun!
I am in mid state NY but get up to Montreal occasionally.

I doubt it'll ever be available in North America! still, great choice of bike mate.

The last pic was in the laurentians, north of Montreal. I also heard really good things about the Nokian studded tires - they've got 35's and 40's that would likely handle rougher stuff than the Marathon Winters.

Thanks! I really like the Pista. And I must say that Condor Cycles were wonderful to deal with.

Ah Condor... a mecca for cycling.. Greg and the staff know my bikes intimately.. the best bike shop in the world IMHO..

  • Glad to see the canucks represented here

  • sledding with huskies is so last year apparently.. viva la pista.. not that own a pista mind..

  • I had one of those winter/ice tires - home made back in Poland :) I've just put 4mm flat head bolts from the inside every second side knob, then screwed the nut from the outside and cut them down with angle grinder to bind the nut and bolt together so it doesn't unscrew and to make it rough and sharp.
When used on the front wheel, it gives you nice grip on solid ice so you can literally do circles spinning your rear wheel on your bike - great fun! but its easy to get lungs inflammation from -20 Centigrade :D
When used on the rear wheel you can for example plough your back yard when breaking on grass :D

  • This was, until a week ago, my work bike. Now it's my commuter bike with a new, sporty, 71" gear. The color is Fakenger Green.

  • 71" gear Will - are you preparing for some Bikeradar-esque commuter racing?

  • I've been hiding my light under a bushel. Try racing me now ************* :)

BTW what do you think of the 'nag? It's no longer for sale.

  • I'm glad it's not for sale. I like it a lot. Very classy build, but then I'd expect that of you.

  • Thanks; it's the tyres that make the difference :)

Needs arrospok for that true fakenger look ;)

  • It's ok; I'll just ride like a dickhead and then get all scared and wobbly when there's some traffic to negotiate. The effect will be the same.
