the tape is mostly to cover up the pink but I get your point.
you're damned if you do and damned if you don't in that sense though, some will see the bike think it's a POS and move on to something more worthwhile, others will see it, agree it looks like a POS but fool themselves into thinking it's really valuable. at least if they fall into the second category and they do nick it they'll be disappointed if they bother to take the tape off and find that it really was a POS all along.

OK after managing a successful pic upload in the nursery i'm now being all cocky and attempting to post bikes, here goes, prepare for firey death if this goes pear shaped..... I have a face for radio so will not upload that sorry sight to the world wide interwebs, (there's no warrants out for me honestly)
I won't post the Gensis Flyer as they not exactly nice and its the runt of the litter thats never even been cleaned in 2 years. I do have a soft spot for it as the plucky underdog that takes all the abuse and horrible weather and never complains despite being clearly jealous of the other bikes in the stable.
See what i did there with the face, at least its a Roberts, hmmmmm
Then we have my 2005 Jekyll after a major offroad session in Afan Argoed and Brechfa in South Wales, brillaint fun. I also use it as an urban assault vehicle throwing myself around Londons street furniture. Its a warranty replacement for a 2002 Jekyll that I broke, well it tore in half in an attempt to become a unicycle when powering away from the lights cycling home from work past the tea building in shoreditch at rush hour, not a fun experience, I had to do the Team America distress signal to avoid getting splatted.
Then my lovely Denti Road Tech Five with crimped or tear drop shaped Columbus SL tubing done up with modern components, lovely machine, super comfy, my long distance ride. I know very little of this bike and hope some of you experts may know more about Denti's old bikes you could share. I've never seen another one and I've never even met another Denti owner, any here?
Then finally there's my dream machine, my 2010 Mercian Vincitore Special in 853 Pro Team Steel, totally besotted with this bike, too scared to leave it outside anywhere ever and is the one bike a vowed never to get rid of. Its my Sunday best bike and only comes out in nice weather but I can't get enough of it and can't helping smiling like a mad bastard everywhere i go on it, so if you see me i'm not on the happy pills, and contrary to what Lance says its all about the bike.
There we go, waffle complete, enjoy or hate as you so wish.

I knew it recognised it, you're only an inch taller than me but i don't think my legs are nearly long enough to ride that.

Was the photo of the Burls taken at Dunwich?
I'm mostly riding this Poyner at the moment:
And still (pretty much) look like this:
I built that trials bike frame, by the way. Fillet brazed for my A-level project. -

updated - me actually riding
That's the top of Mt. Ventoux isn't it? Fun ride. Awesome cycling back down!
-
• #11039
I walked up Ventoux when I was a kid (way before I got into riding) and can remember the spartanly fit roadies trying their luck as if it was yesterday.
Desperately want to go back and notch it off the list.

Brave to go for white lycra by the way. Very brave.

yes that's the bald mountain allright. fun ride huh? hmmm... everyone told me that after the chalet it would get easier, whereas I certainly didn't think so, the wind was so treacherous the last 6 kms. even worse the 2nd time. but I'm sure I'll go again, the feeling reaching the top (and the view) is just so good. the rest of the area is also quite nice to ride.
what's so brave about the white? it's not pink ;)
-
• #11042
I was there a few years ago when the tour was passing through, and had a great time struggling up to the top alongside hundreds of other cyclists.
And white lycra - quite a lot more revealing than black :)

Nope
Long shot, but Is that on Shoreham Beach?
That's some good pebble beach knowledge you have there, well done :)
How did you know?

feet go on chainstays?
probably the snow to not fall over
-
• #11048
I was thinking the same (re: the snow-bmx) but then I thought.. Maybe you wear little skis as well?

My bikes atm, will be getting a fixed wheelset for the bridgestone pretty soon and a less shitty stem, a short one though as the bike is a bit too big for me as it is.
It's first try at building a bike.
Will prolly change the bar tape as it tends to unwrap and move.
and me looking weird:

nice bikes.
The downside of a taped up frame is that it won't fool all the thieves, the missus remember listening to them talking about which bike to nick and one of them said "look for the taped up one, they're the good one".
