• Ask the seller to go through the "buyer and seller mutually agreed not to complete this transaction" process, otherwise it'll stay in your bought items indefinitely and potentially they could issue you with a non-paying buyer alert/flag.

Technically they are obliged to sell you the bike, so this is the least they could do (and there's no way for you to manage things as the buyer).

  • I was worried that if he marks it paid, then I'll have to pay commission. Or is it only the seller that pays that?

  • just the seller pays ebay fees

  • Also, I was annoyed about it, but what can you do? I it's already sold, then it's not worth the hassle of chasing it up. Was a lovely bike for a super price. Bum.

  • There is a chance it hasn't sold if it went for a silly price that the seller wasn't happy about.
They may even try to re-list is at some point. (just a thought)

  • If I've sold something not through eBay whilst it's listed with them (like a car for example) I ALWAYS included in the listing details that it was for sale elsewhere and may be sold prior to the listing ending. Also, you cannot remove a listing from eBay once it has bids or remove with less than 24hrs prior to it ending.

  • The listing did say it was for sale elsewhere, but I put in a bid over the reserve and won. I got the email telling me that I had won before I got the email from him telling me it was gone. If I see it re-listed then that's unfair, but he seemed genuine on the phone. I've texted him and asked him to sort it out.

  • Yep, the seller is most likely just being sneaky, but I'd leave it... going through the eBay resolution centre is like having your balls removed.

Once a listing is within 24 hours of the auction's end, you are legally obliged to sell to the highest bidder, no matter what your auction states. The legal consequences of not doing this are that you have to say sorry and defend your side with bullishness and vile, failure to comply with the aforementioned means you'll get kicked off of eBay for good, sometimes, maybe, possibly, probably not.

  • I knew I shouldn't have put that unicycle on ebay...

Spence is back! Where've you been? In a coma?

Bike was actually a gorgeous Veloce-equipped Witcomb. Just typing that made me annoyed...

  • Having a similar problem. My account has been limited pending verification, I think the issue is that I changed the location of the item to an address I havent used before. The problem is my sale is pretty urgent and they have scheduled a phone call to verify my account on the 7th which is a little late to say the least.
Has anyone got any suggestions? Ive already sent them an email to try and get them to contact me sooner but I suspect thats not gonna work.
    Real pain in the ass.

  • Can't you choose another verification method? Like debit your card a small amount or something?

  • I had some crap like this. Ignored it totally, next day everything was back to normal. eBlag/Palmore are impossibly crap to deal with.

  • Doesnt seem to be any other way of me verifying my account they want to speak to me personally, guess ill just have to hope they decide to lift it then.

It isn't something as simple as you are logging on to eBay.COM to try and sell
........... and your account s registered as an eBay.CO.UK account is it ?? ?? ??

  • Are you using Safari? I had a similar problem a few days ago, and one of the eBay help pages suggested using Firefox. It worked for me.

  • They got back to me this morning, apparently its because Im selling from a different comptuter!! FFS Ive been logging on to ebay with my laptop for months, pretty sure Ive bought stuff on ebay from my laptop but no no they want to check its actually me so they are going to ring me on the 7th of November exactly a day after I needed to have sold the bike Im selling.
So now I wont get the bike sold and wont have very much money to spend on holiday, cheers ebay!

  • 2 weeks ago i sold an item on ebay and sent ot off to the buyer. the item had some damage and it was fully detailed on the listing prior.

the buyer received the item and stated they were not happy with the damage. i explained that i had been accurate with the description of the damage and not been misleading. before winning the item the buyer did not ask any questions about the damage and just went ahead and won the listing.

2 weeks have passed having not heard anything so i assumed that was the end of the matter. i then received an email yesterday from the buyer saying that they want a refund on the item, refund of postage to send it back also.

i am not happy to accept a refund now as they have had the item over 2 weeks. they paid via paypal, are they able to raise a claim for a refund after this time? also what happens if ebay side with them. they get their money back plus they keep the item.?

    thanks for any help.

  • I've found that Paypal/eBay will usually always side with the buyer...I think a buyer has 45 days to raise a dispute on a transaction through Paypal.

Good luck, there are lots of morons using eBay.

  • I thought it was 2 weeks to open a dispute with paypal.
If they can, let them open a dispute with paypal or ebay, then simply state your listing about the damage and it will be obvious they are in the wrong.
In future if you are selling something damaged make sure to clearly write that you will not accept returns and the buyer is receiving the item exactly as described/pictured.

  • Not the return postage. Just the item.

  • they would get money back once the item had been returned if they won

  • if they raise a dispute with paypal..i have been told that they always side with the buyer.

  • I have personal experience that they don't.
However, try and talk it through with the buyer first.
