• Offer to pick it up in person for a discount that equals the train fare or something like that. Bristol isn't that far

  • Look into Nimber?

I had a bike brought to me in the back of someone’s car. no need for seller to package or dismantle. Reasonable price and super easy

  • Hop on a train direct and get them to discount the cost by the cost of the train fare + 10% for hassle / time.

  • It’s not far, but it’s also not cheap

  • I used Ebay's global shipping service for the first time a few weeks ago and they're still holding my money; is that normal? I sent it tracked to their warehouse with the reference number and it arrived on the 2nd there, then they emailed me on the 8th saying it had been successfully delivered to the buyer who I believe is in Austria, but the Paypal funds are still on hold. If they know themselves that they delivered it what's the problem?

  • have you been trading for a while and simply first GSP? or some of the first ebay sales?

  • The former, been selling for a couple of years and buying for longer, although I did take a break from selling for a good six months before this as it was getting me too annoyed.

  • how odd! I would give them a call and see what they have to say. I have to admit, I am hating ebay recently, guy buys a used set of bars etc. The bell has a couple of scratches and he requested a return/refund for defective item. WTF. It works, as described. They just said yep, have taken the money and I still havent got the stuff back?!

  • Sent loadsa stuff with GSP, never had funds held back. Get in touch with them.

  • The bell has a couple of scratches and he requested a return/refund for defective item.

    WUT

  • Called them yesterday around lunchtime and they said 'oh this all seems fine as it's clearly been delivered, we've just released the funds and you should have it within 24 hours'. 22 hours later and the money's still on hold so I'm 90% sure they're going to dick me about for days on this and they actually did FA yesterday.

  • Would you guys sell a high value item to someone in the USA with zero sales history?

Would like it sold and at that price but the risk seems too high given scam potential

  • I would probably avoid due to the potential hassle. Depends how desperate I was for a sale.

  • Hnnng.

I guess my 24 karat diamante butt plug will remain on this side of the Atlantic then...

  • dibs.

Is it through ebay global shipping programme?

  • ebay global shipping programme?

Never used this. Don't know how to use this. Really should look at it... does it prevent fraud in any meaningful way?

  • Ive started cancelling selz to people with zero feedback or sales. Just not worth it.

  • it means for delivery issues, its just your job to get the item to ebay in your country, then they sort all the rest out.

  • Well its just that you just post your item to ebay within your own country and they handle the rest so if the buyer claims it never showed up or whatever, not your problem

    Edit: Beaten to it.
I guess they could still claim it isn't as described etc

  • I ordered a mop.

    The mop has not arrived.

I've started the process of getting my money back.

I hope it's as boring as using the mop that has not arrived.

  • How do they price the international shipping then? Is it competitive?

Yeah, cunty fuckers can just run riot when all's said and done. Should just re-name the thread 'fuck ebay'

  • Ive started cancelling selz to people with zero feedback or sales. Just not worth it.

You can change your seller settings to restrict who can bid/buy your items based on various criteria:
    Users with zero feedback
Users with unpaid cases against them
    Outside of UK
    Ginger people
    etc...

  • Don't know, buyer pays that to ebay who name their price. I bought some carbon motorbike bits from the states a couple weeks ago and it cost me £14 for the postage including import tax

  • Yeah this (item not as described) is still not covered well by the GSP.
I buy vinyl from all over the world, a lot comes from ebay. A while ago I got one from the states which was described as mint. I tend to be a bit lenient but this thing was pretty fuxked! Nowhere close to mint.
The seller got uppity from the get go saying I was trying to scam a free record.
Anyway, ebay gave her 7 days to provide me with a return shipping label. She couldn’t do this as ebay isn’t set up for such for international sales. As such, 7 days passed and I got a full refund.
Which to be fair, I deserved but I could just as well have been lying my ass off and still been compensated!
I sell on ebay all the time but won’t ship anything internationally any more.

  • I sold a wheel recently. I put £5 shipping, eBay charged the buyer in Italy and extra £18 on top
