Do we have to?

It's not Armstrong who bothers me now, so much as the morons who fill your FB feed with 'yeah, but he's still a legend, did you see the way he won those 7 Tours, and he looked at some German guy once, and you can't criticise him because he did so much for cancer'. Yeah, he cynically set up a charity smokescreen to get away with some nasty shit. He may be better than Jimmy Savile, but not by enough.

Whoah whoah whoah there. There is a whole world of difference between cheating at a sport and molesting lots of vulnerable young people.

I can't believe someone just dropped in a casual Savile.
-
• #4557
Srsly. Savile's as bad as Hitler.
-
• #4558
Worse. Hitler never appeared in public dressed like this;
-
• #4559
But not as bad as jeez?
-
• #4560
How about Leon Britten?

I can't believe someone just dropped in a casual Savile.
It's low, but such an easy way of winding up the diehard fanboys.
-
• #4562
That's the difference though, Lance still has fans. Whereas Saville doesn't.
-
• #4563
I love Lance. My goodness does he look old though.
-
• #4564
That's right, I took the all of the drugs and I'd do it again see!!!!!

And in not at all co-ordinated FatPat news:

-
• #4567
Hhmmmm, that would presumably be the same Fat Pat who in October 2012 said that Lance 'had no place in cycling' and 'deserves to be forgotten'. Fat Pat's removal from office has evidently done little to improve his consistency or personal integrity.

Pat McQuaid can fuck off. He's part of the problem, alongside his mentor Hein Verbruggen, and neither of them have any place in cycling.

Excellent!

Did anyone watch this at the BFF a few years ago?
http://vimeo.com/20107260
A short film about two guys one favouring Lance and one Eddy. They have a race and the winner gets the girl. I remember hating it at the time, thinking it was one of the smuggest things I've ever seen. Even aside from the fact that Lance was better than Eddy, it really stuck in my craw.

In the autumn of 1993, Greg LeMond and his wife, Kathy, were sitting at home in the suburbs of Minneapolis, when they received a visit from Linda Mooneyham, the three-times Tour de France winner has recalled. Her 21-year-old son, Lance Armstrong, had just become the world champion and she had travelled from her home in Texas for advice.
"What does he do now?" she asked. "What does he do with his money?"
"Well, let him find an agent – a good one with an attorney," LeMond replied. "And one word of advice – just be his mom."
They sat on the porch for a while and then moved inside to the kitchen. Linda had something else on her mind: "How do I make him less of an asshole. He doesn't care about anyone."
"Well," LeMond replied. "I can't help you there."

Full edit is here:http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b052m712/lance-armstrong-the-big-interview
The 30minute edit on BBC news was awful, and the 'news ticker' never adds to anyone's enjoyment.
This version is more interesting and more balanced, however it isn't for me to give him redemption. I think Dan Roan was a bit disappointing as an interviewer; almost too defensive.
I would have given him a better interview. In conclusion, go and do something else, only watch this if you are fascinated/intrigued by him
