• No, it always looks better if you volunteer information rather than having it found by your enemies. The only time you should withhold potentially embarrassing evidence is when you are absolutely certain that it won't be discovered by anybody else. Since you are never that certain, that means never.

  • new job?

Would have been better if he was working for stan's so he could inject mid video.

  • 10 year ban for Bruyneel, 8 years each for Pepe Marti and Pedro Celaya in their involvement in the USPS conspiracy.

  • Bravo. Surprised it's not longer given that they didn't co-operate, but who is really going to touch them now anyway?

  • Hincapie, still being a douche for Armstrong;

    http://crankpunk.com/2014/05/01/the-curious-case-of-george-hincapie/

  • I broke the cardinal sin of the internet after reading that.

    I read the comments.

  • There's two minutes of my life I'm never getting back. That might have been an interesting subject, but the guy just sucked all the life out of it with poor writing and an almost total lack of insight.

  • Meanwhile, SCA vs. Lance Armstrong is moving forwards, subject to the usual LA delaying tactics.

  • ^Holeee Sheet

  • I dunno, it doesn't really make sense to me that you can reclaim sponsorship money from Armstrong. The benefit to a company of sponsorship isn't really affected by whether he's doping, so long as no one knows he's doing it. So USPS got the benefit of him winning in exchange for funding the team.

You could argue that in hindsight, now that people know he's doping, the past sponsorship could damage USPS. But I think that's bollocks. It served to promote USPS at that time and I can't imagine anyone's not using them as a result of Lance Armstrong revealing the extent of doping. And I certainly can't see it doing 100 million dollars worth of damage.

Seems a little unfair, but then again, Armstrong's got form at unfair

  • Sponsors get publicity, but what they actually pay for in terms of the contract is something different. If the contract specified additional payment according to results, then those payments which were made according to the initially announced results might be reimbursable if the result is overturned by the results management agency on later investigation. Usually, a sponsorship would also have penalty clauses which relate to bringing the sponsor's name into disrepute, even where is no material damage.

  • yes, i appreciate all that, but they're claiming 3 times the initial input, seems a little excessive. legal I'm sure, but excessive

but then it's hard to feel empathy for lance

  • The triple damages are intended to be punitive, it's not just a civil recovery case, it's a prosecution for criminally defrauding a government agency.

  • Armstrong Lie Monday night on C4 because C4 still has a sandy vagine aboot Tour De France

  • Stop at Nothing is on BBC4 tonight, if you haven't seen it don't bother unless you like the old footage ;)

  • Saw it first time. Very well structured documentary with fantastic (old) footage. A must see...

Verlorama was fun after it. Innocent cycling footage

  • Yep. Velorama was a palette cleanser to say the least. I can still taste poo, but its the cow poo off Beryl's cross bike.

  • I thought Stop at Nothing was far better than the Armstrong Lie, if only because it's not catering to the film maker's obvious recovering fanboyism.

Betsy Andreu comes across as really unlikable in a way that all the others (with the exception of Armstrong) don't-why is this?

Old footage of things like Armstrong on Sestriere or beating Indurain at the world champs is fucking amazing. And Floyd... Inhuman is definitely the word. Psycho bastard also.

  • I thought Betsy was the moral centre of the story. She didn't accept any doping from the outset while everyone else colluded with Lance. I wondered what her motive was though. Perhaps something happened between her and Lance and she was 'scorned' by him...

  • I dunno... It's a strange one-like she loved the status of being so close to Lance even if it was in the context of him fucking her over and being able to define herself against it.
Maybe that's really unfair but out of all the people interviewed you get a strange antipathy from her in a way you don't with a lot of the 'bad guys' who come across as a lot more human or damaged by the whole thing. Tyler Hamilton really looks like he's haunted when he talks and Lemond also looked pretty traumatised by what happened, only American Tour winner that he now is.
