• no doubt this is why it's taking place at his home - so he can be assured that nothing like that can happen..

Until halfway through, Tygart jumps out of his Trojan Horse Oprah costume, shoves the seven jerseys up his jumper and runs off cackling.

  • Is Oprah even on in the UK? I've never watched it in my life so I don't know if we're even able to see the interview.

From Oprah's webpage announcing the interview:
"In addition-the interview will be simultaneously streamed LIVE worldwide on Oprah.com. "

  • Yes but let us not forget that he's a smug, arrogant, manipulative, power crazed, egotistical, lying, treacherous, vindictive, emotionally blackmailing beast.

Awww come on.. I was only offline for 5 minutes...

    #nolove

  • Granted he is all of the above. I'd still love to have a beer with the guy to see just how mental he is in real life.

You'd want beer but he'd make you drink vodka and do coke and then you'd have to pay for the strippers as well.

He did have an odd choice in team-building exercises didn't he. On the other hand, good for blackmail.

    Standard date for me

  • You'd want beer but he'd make you drink vodka and do coke and then you'd have to pay for the strippers as well.

And he would be popping to the gents every couple of minutes to do a few lines of white stuff and then deny it and claim that you are a troll and worse when you point to the white residue around his nostrils and his dilated pupils.

  • My guess is it will be an easy ride and he will come out of it with the sympathy of the American public at large. Cancer will feature heavily. Probable narrative as follows.

I was incredibly talented naturally, but the deck was stacked against me. I got cancer and realised you only live once. I wanted to test myself and be the best I could be and I made the difficult choice to do what everybody else was doing. I regret that I had to take drugs to let my natural ability shine through. What is done is done, and whilst I regret the drug taking, I won't apologise for taking my story of hope to cancer sufferers. Lists achievements of foundation. I am committed to this cause in the future.

    This /interview.

Aw Lance - when you put it like that how can I stay mad at you. Come here give me a hug. That nasty Tyler really did a number on you didn't he. Don't worry I still think you are better than LeMond.

  • Lance Armstrong's new book: 'The Audacity of Dope'

    lol

I think you might have it about right. I can't see what he has to gain by doing an interview if he is just going to tell the same story that only his disciples still believe.

  • I fought cancer. I have saved the world from cancer. There are always people who will seek to detract from achievement. Trolls and other people whose lives have not gone well because of their own lack of moral fibre. It pains those people to see someone take on a challenge such as cancer (TM Lance Armstrong) and beat it as that points to their own inadequacies. Those sad people, and we should feel sorry for them but you will excuse me if they sometimes anger me, have plenty of time on their hands to dredge around concocting stories. I could fight them. I fought them for long enough but eventually you have to take a step back and ask whether it is worth answering their every accusation or just move on. Every time you show how pitiful their arguments are, they just come up with a new one. the fact remains that I am the most tested athlete ever and I have never been found to take any illicit substance. There were many who did and who were caught. They are jealous of my success. I am now content to carry on my fight against cancer and against those who would deny me the ability to fight cancer.

  • Why would Oprah give him the platform if he wasn't going to confess? Surely the deal is Oprah gets the coup of Lance confessing, and Lance gets to put his own spin on it with a sympathetic and influential interviewer?

  • I can tell you now that I am actually not going to watch. I'm going to do what I always do these days when something I find uncomfortable is unfolding; peak at twitter and wait for the forum / world of memes to formulate my future opinions for me.

You're crazy. How can you not watch this? It's our JFK, our Apollo landings, our Death Of Lady Di. Our Twin Towers. Our X-Factor-the-votes-have-been-counted-and-verified.

  • What's the spread on the number of times Armstrong mentions the word cancer in the interview? Shall we have a sweep?

  • ^^I don't need to. You can tell me what happened without the bum twitching, cringy faux contrition.

  • "confess" and "never tested positive" are both evens.

I first learnt about JFK on the television but did not watch it live. I had to listen to the moon landings on the radio. Same for the 1966 World Cuip. Sadly the Diana business was not screened live. While I watched the fiirst few Twin Peaks I never managed to catch anything beyond episode three. I have the boxed set but haven't got round to it yet. X Factor. Sorry.

My point being that you don't have to watch these things live to enjoy them (other than X Factor).

  • no mention of cancer. worth a punt! (spellcheck fail)

  • He'll be using the phrase "I'm a right cunt" quite frequently, and while he won't be saying it out loud, you won't have to boost the volume to hear it.

  • It is a shame you can't lay as well as place. because there isn't a chance in hell he will bring himself to say the two words 'Paul Kimmage'.

Thats all very well but where were you when PJ was blinded?

    www.youtube.com/watch?v=oXeMontXSTI

  • the fuck is 'Dad' about swimming 2.4 miles, cycling 112 miles and then running a marathon?

If anything, wanking over each others bikes at the velodrome or admiring tight clearances on vintage NJS is 'Dad'.

With or without drugs, Armstrong is a fucking beast.

I would rep you but I think 'repping' is a bit nancy and all

  • It's going to be so tightly controlled it's unreal. Oprah seems to be the arbiter of US taste and a very very powerful opinion maker. This might be the most intelligent move Armstrog has made since the roof fell in on him.

Redemption is a deep seated part of the American psyche and Oprah is the perfect place to do it. I was bad ma but now I see the evil of my ways - I just wanna help people learn from my mistakes. I'd bet money on it.
